So having some issues with my marriage visa. Had issues with my bank and an agent advised me to go to immigration and get a “60 day visiting my Thai wife” extension. Which will give me the time to change my bank and vest the 60 days requirement part.

I just want to clarify that I can go straight now to immigration and get this “60 day family extension thing” without having to do a border run or something? I’ve never heard of this so trying to get some clarification.

I use the Korat Office as well because I know offices can be different.
Answer summary
You can obtain a 60-day extension for visiting Thai family without needing to do a border run. To apply, go directly to your immigration office (in your case, the Korat office) with your wife and necessary documentation, including your marriage certificate and her ID. This extension is only available once per visa.

A little late because I've been travelling, whilst remembering that its Korat and they can be (deliberately difficult when they want to be, you shouldn't have a problem. The only problems I've had with them related to the house ownership/Usufruct but as your property is in your wife's name - doesn't apply. Do make sure you take your wife or they'll only give you 30 days.

I've done this a couple of times at Korat Immigration Cris. As you know, they can be difficult on many things but as long as you have the correct documentation you will be OK. Your wife should go with you and you will need your marriage certificate and KR2, TM30 and here is where they can be difficult - they may ask for the registered owner of the property you're living in to go with you. I've had that fight with them several times as I have a registered Usufruct and therefore total control over my property. Each time its taken a call from my lawyer to get them to back down. The property owner will need to have their Tabien Baan and ID card with them - they demanded the originals on my last visit - copies were OK the first time. Having said that, they have relaxed a few things on 12 month extensions recently so they may have for the 60 day too. It would be useful if they answered the phone so you could ask them but as you know - they don't. They gave me a 30 day extension last time I went but I had entered the country visa exempt.

Are you under a 90days non-0 visa? Or a 12 months extension of the 90 days non-O visa?

I ask to learn something new!

Thank you. I know perfectly most of the rules. But I haven’t heard of anyone get an 60 days extension of a 12 months extension ! Hence the question.

Lennart Carlsson He said he was on the marriage visa. I don't think you can get the 60 days if you're already on the 1 year extension

Lennart Carlsson before you apply for a year extension, apply for a 90days Non-O immigrant visa base on married to Thai national or retirement before you enter Thailand.before a month of this visa expire, apply for a year extension

It's actually a 60 day extension based on visiting Thai family, it just so happens that in your case your wife is your family. No border run, go to your immigration office and request it. Take your wife and your marriage certificate

I was not aware of this but thank you. This will save me tons of time and money. So my current marriage visa is up middle of next month. So I just go in and say I need a 60 day extension based on visiting family.

Cris Murl your rose bordered marriage certificate is not enough proof that your marriage is still existing. You could already be divorced. That's why you need the fresh printout Kor Ror 2 or 22

OP
Greg Alexander uh. Hm. The amphur we used to get married at is in Bangkok? Or can I get any amphur to do it? I’ve never had to get a new marriage certificate in the last 3 years of my marriage visa? Or is that different
Greg ***********
Greg ***********
Cris Murl you need to bring a freshly printed marriage registry from the Amphur. It is called Kor Ror 2 or 22, whichever applies. For this your marriage needs to be registered inside Thailand. Bring your Wife, her blue housebook and ID Card and 1900 Baht application fee

OP
Greg Alexander I’ve been on a marriage visa for a few years now. I need a Kor 2 or 22? Even though I have the original and copies we use every year?

Cris Murl On the TM7 request for extension form for reason you put "Visit Thai family", do not put wife on the form or they could start and reject a marriage extension. The reason for the extension, in your case your wife, should accompany you with all the related documents.
Greg ***********
Greg ***********
Cris Murl you can get the marriage registry printout from your local Amphur. It often depends on the specific Immigration office if they accept the "old" rose bordered marriage certificate as proof of a still existing marriage. Only an actual fresh Kor Ror 2 or 22 registry printout would be proof that the marriage still exists. The old rose bordered marriage certificate is the Kor Ror 3. You don't need a new one. If your Immigration has always accepted the old certificate, then OK you will be able to use it until a new boss at your Immigration might decide otherwise

Graham Seal yes my wife is coming to along with our entire paperwork folder. Our trip is 1.5 hours one way so we bring literally everything. I’m debating on bringing my laptop and printer next extension too. Haha
