Good morning! Before asking a question I always check if I can find the answer... my first in this group. We are located at Nonthaburi. Which immigration office to request the 30 days exemption extension please? Can we request the extension anytime after entering in Thailand (with an exemption) or shall we wait last days of the stamp? Thank you very much!

I’m an American on a tourist visa. Currently staying in an apartment in Nonthaburi. I’m approaching the time when I have to apply for an extension. I plan on going to IT square in Lak Si. I’m hearing some conflicting info on the need for a TM-30 for an extension like this. Any insight would be appreciated.

Went to Nonthaburi Immigration office yesterday to apply for first one year extension to non o retirement visa, apply for multiple re-entry permit and file first 90 day report. Whole process took 90 minutes.

Couple of things (maybe Nonthaburi specific);

1. Booked appointment online. Print out the booking confirmation and bring with you as they will ask for it.

2. Each page of your back up documentation ( passport pages, bank statements etc) need to be signed and certified “true copy”.

3. The STM.2 document that I had filled in beforehand was not accepted as there is a newer version. (It’s a simple document to fill in on the spot anyhow).

4. As I was there in person and applying for a one year extension, they didn’t even look at my 90 day report application. Note the next 90 day report is required 90 days after my visit to immigration ie March 22nd 2022 and NOT 90 days after start of my new visa extension.

Might be a silly question... can I get my photo taken at the immigration office in Bangkok or should I prepare to have one ready before I arrive?

UPDATE:

Thank you all so much for your responses and help. Today we went to the Temporary Visa Extension Office in Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi (including people from the Bangkok area) around 9:00 am and were quite HAPPILY shocked to find we barely had to wait. We had expected hours of waiting, but perhaps because we were doing tourist Visa exempt extension at Counter K, it was much less busy. I think we were pretty lucky though, as there were at least a hundred chairs in the main room which I imagine generally get put to use. By the time we were done, there were about 10-15 other people waiting.

We were told (as expected for this location) that we had to get the 30 day extension first and could get the 60 day extension later. The people were friendly to us, though there was a lady who was rude to 2 different groups of people by the time we left (everyone else at the other stations was polite, so hopefully you just won't get her).

In case anyone else is going for this extension, the documents we had to take were:

-Passport

-Signed Copy of passport photo ID (we originally printed just the page with our photo, but apparently for US passport, they also wanted the page directly above it with our signature. This wasn't an issue as our friend who came to help (in case translation was needed), just went out of the room and made a couple of copies and brought them to us.

-Signed Copy of passport stamp page from our entry into Thailand

-Signed Copy of TM6 departure card

-1,900 Baht per person

*For signed copies, we were told to write our signature below the image on each page

My husband despiiiiiiiises admin/bureaucratic processes and was dreading today because of issues we've had even trying to find this was the office we should go to etc., but he keeps saying to me (after we finished this) "I'm so happy it's done!" He's just shocked it went so smoothly. The 30 is done for now, so here's hoping our 60 application will be as easy.

Best to you all and thanks again!

*END OF UPDATE***

Hello! My husband and I arrived from the USA on May 19th using the “Visa exemption scheme” and are staying in Bangkok.

We want to do the 60 day Covid extension. Does anyone know which offices in/around or even a little further outside of Bangkok are willing to do this for us? We’re planning to go to the temporarily operating Visa extension office (set up because of Covid 19) on Monday, but I’m afraid we’ll wait hours just to be told they’ll only give us the 30 day extension.

Has anyone had experience with this? Thanks for any help! 🙏

I did my last 90-day report via the immigration website in February, downloaded the receipt for my application, and received my confirmation email the following day.

When I went back in to print my new report date form to staple into my passport, the system was down. Of course, it is still down weeks later. I can easily print both my most recent application receipt and confirmation email.

To add one more little wrinkle, I will be moving from Nonthaburi to BKK before my next 90-day report due date.

My question is this: since the next report date form is required for my next TM47, do I need to visit my local immigration office (Nonthaburi) to have a form printed? Or will my latest TM47 application receipt and confirmation email be sufficient?

Thanks.

Hi

Just to share information, this morning I went to immigration in Nonthaburi asking about my husband visa.(Non-O) as his visa already extended 60 days in April. The officer told me after 31 July if still can not get any flight back home so thing can be like these

- Still has 7 days after 31 July to stay without any charge

- Embassy letter needed to extend visa but with the good reason why extend

for my husband case is his country airport is still closed

- Wait for an announcement soon. (SOMETHING POSITIVE)

Just got back from the Nonthaburi Immigration Office. Went in with all of our paper work and then less than two hours later we walked out with our one year visa extensions!

Just ONE trip! No going back and forth to the Immigration office half a dozen times in order to find more documentation that is always missing. No waiting in LONG lines.

In more than 30+ years of living in Thailand, I think this is the first time that has EVER happened. Wow. Happy day.
