Just a datapoint for those wondering:

Applied in Laos, 

jul 15, submitted

jul 16 paid early morning

jul 16 - pending document check

jul 22  - request additional document (bank card + banking app screenshot)

jul 23 submit additional doc - pending doc check #2

jul 27th request interview for 4th

Seems like laos is now taking nearly 3 weeks all-in as the expectation. 

Vientiene is a nice city, people are nice, not a lot to do but good food and surprisingly good groceries if you don't mind paying for Rimping or other high-end supermarkets. Not the best supply chain, sometimes out of vegetables or other goods, but good quality.

As for my items, all were very clear and organized, no question the banking/etc was legitimate. There's no avoiding the interview now it seems like. Not a problem, but just makes the process longer.

I manage myself, it's not difficult at all. Met someone who used agency and they're on the same timeline but 3-4 days sooner.

No I've stayed the whole time. You can run along the river and the food is good, semi-walkable environment. Life is simple but good.

The art museum I'll go to soon, it's the main 'thing to do' that seems nice.

In retrospect I'd probably apply, pay, and go to luang prabang or vang vieng and then come back after a week. See the rest of the country a bit, as everyone I've met but those applying for marriage/spouse visa are waiting awhile.

Anonymous participant You still have time to go to Vang Vieng, it is not that far, even Luang Prabang is doable before Aug 4th. Yes, Vientiane is a nice small city, but 3 weeks would be too much for me. Anyway, very likely you will be approved soon after your interview.
