Does anyone know the steps to get a Laos visa at the Bangkok embassy?

I am going to Bueng Ghan with my wife and her Family wants to take me on a day trip to Laos.

How long should I spend in Bangkok to get a Laos visa?

What paperwork do I need etc

I guess we would have to have proof of the day trip as I won’t be staying at a hotel.

I have a UK passport and I live in phuket.

I cannot use an eVisa or do a visa on arrival

Friendship bridge 5 at Bueng Khan does not permit evisas and does not issue visas on arrival yet.

Why can't you do Visa on Arrival?  UK passport holders can.

You need $40 US in crisp new bills, and then just go, no visa necessary. However, Thai immigration might ask you when you are returning, if you go for only a day you might get some drama. The other question you should answer before crossing the border is what kind of visa you currently have in Thailand. If it is anything but a visa waiver, you will need to go to immigration before you leave and buy a re-entry stamp, because if you don’t do that, and you have a non-B or non-O visa, it will be void the second you cross the border and you will have to restart the process to secure your visa once you return to Thailand.

It has to be the consulate. Its quite easy. Bring your passport and your picture. You can also try do the visa on arrival, if your nationality allows.
