Throughout Laos at both the Thai Embassy in Vientiane + Thai Consulate in Savannakhet will start accepting Thai E-Visa applications on 01 January 2025 with 10-15 working days for processing of a Thai E-Visa. The last day for accepting in-person applications at Vientiane + Savannakhet is 20 December 2024.

Again, the Thai Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia will start accepting Thai E-Visa applications on 26 November 2024 with 10 working days for processing of a Thai E-Visa.

Anyone know what the 2 day processing time at the Thai Embassy in Vientiane, Laos means? I have an appointment for Monday Nov. 11th at 9:30AM. Does that mean I'll get back my passport by Wednesday morning?

I'm switching from Elite visa to Work visa. I'm presuming the airline will want to see a return ticket to Thailand before boarding me to fly to Laos, and it would be great to be able to book a flight for Wednesday afternoon/evening so I can return to my normal life on Thursday.

What's the worst case scenario for when I would get the documents back? Anyone have recent experience to share? Thank you!

For Vientiane Thai embassy, how many days before you are supposed to get appointment if you plan to go there in mid November? I assume it's still long time to book now.

DTV (Medical) Approved - Vientiane, Laos

Docs submitted:

- Bank statement (6 months, balance always above 500k)

- Receipt from first appointment

- Medical certificate with diagnosis & treatment timeline (root canal, extractions, 6 weeks total)

- Proof of next appointment

- Photos, application form, copy of passport, copy of Laos visa & entry stamp, hotel booking in Laos, cover letter (I don't think they read this)

Before applying I messaged the Thai Embassy (Vientiane) Facebook page with a copy of the Med Cert asking if it would be acceptable for the DTV, a few days later they replied saying yes. When I handed in the forms the officer looked at the Med Cert and asked what I needed, I explained dental surgery and that I had messaged the Facebook page and they said it was an acceptable reason. I'm not sure if mentioning that had any impact on him not following up further. He didn't ask any questions about finances or any of the other documents. He requested the 10k baht and gave me the collection form for a few days time.

Based on what I read about other peoples experience I thought there'd be more questions or that maybe I'd be denied when collecting my passport (which lead to a nervous 5 day wait), but looks like if they accept it on the day and ask for the 10k baht then it's guaranteed. As others have said don't overthink it, just submit exactly what you need to. They aren't looking to make it difficult, they want to approve you but in order to do that they just need to tick the boxes.

So that's everything, 5yr visa approved and stamped in for 180 days. Hope this helps the next. Happy to answer any questions.

Hello everyone!

I just got my DTV approved at the Thai Embassy in Vientiane. I applied on Monday and just received it today (Wednesday).

It was very, very easy and I highly recommend applying for it there!

All you need is the following:

- Visa Application Form (with 2 x pictures)

- Passport copy of biodata page

- Document showing your current location (driver's license)

- Visa fee of 10,000 THB

- 6-month official bank statement showing a minimum of 500,000 THB

Proof of Purpose of Visit:

- For remote workers: Certificate of Employment, Employment Contract, personal tax return, and payslips (if applicable)

- Professional portfolio showing your business, including your resume/company profile and screenshots/photos of your business

Cover Letter including:

- Cover page and table of contents

- Self-introduction: name, age, passport number

- Statement of purpose

- Details about your company and the nature of the business

- Explanation of your workflow: how your freelance career operates and how you work remotely

- Assurance that you will not take away jobs from locals or take on local clients

But most importantly you need to have an appointment before going there which can be done online (I had booked mine a month in advance).

You can already go early in the morning and drop you application, regardless of your queue number.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Best of luck to all of you!

DTV Visa Approval from Thai Embassy @ Vientiane - Medical Treatment Route

We submitted our application on Friday, August 23, and received the visa on Tuesday, August 27, taking 2 additional business days to process.

We applied via the medical treatment route. The required documents we provided were:

- A doctor signed diagnosis letter from the doctor with the clinic stamp.

- A doctor signed detailed 1.5-year treatment plan with dates of each procedure with the clinic stamp.

- An appointment letter for a future visit with the clinic stamp.

Additional required documents:

- Passport copy

- Copy of the Laos entry stamp (and Laos visa if required)

- Bank statements for the last 6 months showing a stable balance over 500k baht, with account details and the account holder's name.

- Official bank certificate stating the account balance, account number, and account holder.

- Cover letter explaining the medical procedure and reasons for doing it in Thailand instead of my home country.

- Visa application form (can download from the Embassy webpage or you fill it for free at the Embassy)

- Two passport-sized photos

- 10,000 baht for visa fees

A few tips:

- Appointments are required, and slots fill up quickly. However, additional slots marked as '-Additional' open daily on the appointment visa website and are just as valid.

- Even if your appointment is at 11:30 a.m., you can arrive at 9 a.m. and be allowed in.

I’ve seen many reports of approvals, but in reality, at the embassy, there were numerous denials due to unverifiable documents, overstays, or unconvincing reasons. Be diligent with your documentation to avoid issues.

Hello group.

Has anyone did lately only NON-O visa in at the Thai Embassy in Vientiane? Need some extra info and to be sure I got the right papers.

I am currently In Thailand under a working visa (valid till 2025). My wife and daugher are under a 90 days depended visa (did not extend on time -long story) and have to apply again for another 90 days and then extend in here properly.

What papers do you have submitted (along with the normal ones). My question is related to the bank account statement (as my wife does not have a bank account). Has to be a Thai one / foreign account or it's not requested?

thanks!
