Soft power requirements

Hey everyone—quick question about the DTV under the soft power category:

If you’re enrolled in a course (like Muay Thai, cooking etc.), what happens when that course ends? Do you need to immediately enroll in another one to stay compliant? And if you leave Thailand after your course ends, do you need to already be enrolled in a new course before re-entering?

Trying to understand how strict immigration is about continuous enrollment and whether there’s any grace period. Appreciate any real experiences or up-to-date info—thanks!

If I enter with a soft power dtv course that is 6 months, I have the visa for 5 years? Do I need to be enrolled in something constantly or every time I enter the country? Or one course and I am good for 5 years? Any other forms needed when I am there or needed to be updated other than 90 day reports? TM30?

Thank you 🙏

Dear community,

I am contemplating to apply for a DTV softpower Visa.

I wanted to commit to a six month course but read a few testimonies that, when re-entering Thailand, some were asked to show a valid course.

So I am wondering if I should rather find a 1 year or 2 years option in order to travel in and out without worrying about this.

My question: Was any of you asked to show a proof of a valid course when re-entering Thailand after the first 6 month?

I would be very grateful for some insights and advice.

Thank you

Hi, for me this is the most important thing to clarify with DTV: Imagine you complete your course (cooking, muay thai…) in the first 180 days. Is just this enough for the rest of 5 years? Or do you have to show proof every 180 days that you are enrolled in a course and actively studying?

Apart from that,

I have consulted online with Siam Legal International and they told me that the minimum course length to be DTV eligible is 6 months. So then I have asked what is the cheapest cooking course in this school ( The food school Bangkok) and this is their answer:

DTV Visa Application Process

The DTV Visa application can be done by enrolling in a Thai cooking course with more than 72 hours of study at The Food School Bangkok.

Thai Cuisine Intensive (Weekend Programme)

Course details: [members only]/

Course Duration: Every Saturday for 11 weeks, or Sundays for some weeks

Course Time: 08:30-5:30pm

Hours per day: 8 hours/day

Total hours: 88 hours

Fees:

Tuition fee: 96,800 THB

Application fee: 2,500 THB

Chef uniform (1 set): 3,250 THB

Total payment amount: 102,250 THB

So as you can see 11 weeks length doesnt match with 6 month length. I am so confused about not having any evidence.

Any answer will be much appreciated, thanks in advance 💪💪💪💪

For soft activities do you just need the 500,000 in bank? How long must you enroll in a class for? And when renewing do you not need to be in a class?
