Hello.

We are going to Bangkok for surgery for my third child. Getting Thai visas for the children is complicated as we live in Mexico and the kids were born in Thailand and a different country in Latin America, and currently the kids born in Thailand do not have residency here. My wife is Canadian and the rest of us have US passports.

I know adults need visas, no problem there, but do the kids (the oldest is 6) need visas?

I have heard that children under 14 are not fined for overstay, but will receive "overstay" stickers in their passport that will complicate coming back.

Thank you for your time.

Hi everyone!

I’m currently on student visa in Thailand, studying Thai. I’m also homeschooling my two kids, who are 8 years old and 4 years old.

Do I have to get my kids to follow my visa?

My Thai school said kids under 10 are usually fine without a visa. But I want to make sure if that’s clear in law and practice.

Thank you!🙏

Hi all,

My wife and I have just had our work permit and visa finalised. We have a 2.5 year old son and have been told by parents and our employer that kids under 12 just get stamped in and out with parents. Thoughts? Experiences?

If I could get a bit of help pls. I’ll be coming from uk with my 2 kids 4&11. I go over by 8 days for my 30day entry on arrival. Is it easier to extend in Bangkok or pattaya? I looked at the e-visa in uk and it requires alot of documents so it’s easier for me to do it there. Would I need to get my childrens visa done as well? I read that they are good if my visa is good as they are both under 15yrs. If I don’t get theirs extended would they have a problem traveling in the future and would I have to pay a fine when leaving Thailand for them? Tia

Hello everyone and thank you in advance for any feedback. I am a US passport holder, applying for a multiple entry visa through the Thai embassy in Washington DC.

I am in the process of filling out the application and am unsure of the following:

A reference person in Thailand (name, address, phone, email). We do not know anyone in Thailand (yet). Should we leave blank?

I am traveling with children. Will each child require there own application/fee or can they travel under my visa?

Website states a passport must be valid for at least 6 months. My daughter is 3 months old and obviously does not meet this criteria. Will she still be able to obtain a Visa?

I am in Chiang Mai and will be going to Vientiane next week to apply for an ED visa for myself, and dependent visas for my two children. I have everything for myself, provided by the school, but does anyone know what paperwork is required for my children? The school was not able to provide much information.

Regarding re-entry permit when leaving the country: do children who are “following” a parent on a non o visa need one? Or just the parent? Thank you :)

I have searched the internet and cannot find an answer, hoping someone can help. We are planning a 3 (possibly 6) month stay in Chiang Mai at the end of the year. I have found that we will need a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa that grants us a 60 day stay with the possibility for a 30 day extension. My question is, if we buy a round trip ticket from the US that has us leaving on day 90, will we have a problem with immigration? Or do we need some sort of flight booked out of Thailand before day 60?

Also, we are traveling with our two small children (4 & 1), do they need visas as well?
