How long should I extend my flight due to my kids' visa application delays?

May 22, 2025
The application for my kids is taking a long time. Submitted ok the 14th and still pending document check.

We were supposed to fly back to Thailand this Saturday, so I need to change our flight to a later date.

Would it be wise to extend for a week or would 2 weeks be better just to be safe?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The author is experiencing delays in their children's visa application, which was submitted on the 14th and is still pending. They need to change their flight back to Thailand, originally scheduled for Saturday, and are considering whether to extend the flight by one week or two weeks to accommodate the situation.

Just go... the kids don't even need a DTV. They can get their stamp when you leave and come back.

they can’t. They are not allowed to have a visa exempt anymore. Last time we almost got denied, even my 12 yo who flew to us in Thailand after visiting family back home, because we have to many visa exemption already (2x and 1 extension). Also my oldest is 15 yo so he does need one

So I’m not going to take unnecessary risks.

Have you heard anything yet?

just as I rearranged our whole schedule and flight, I just now received both approvals 😅

So although we all have our DTV now, we still be in Bali for a week

you can not leave once the process has started.
Stu***
Anonymous participant ok. Must be different by country. In Australia you can leave as it’s delivered via email.

it’s delivered by email, but they can ask for additional proof of stay or call you in for interview. If you’re not in the country where you applied they will cancel the process
Stu***
Anonymous participant yeah ok, nobody is calling anyone from Melbourne to Canberra for an interview 🤣. It’s unlikely they would need more info once you’ve sent proof child was in the country at time of application.

they likely won’t, but I have read post where they did, so why take unnecessary risks.

I don’t mind staying longer in Bali, it’s more that we booked the ticket thinking it would have been done by then
