Hey everyone, We have our police checks done in Australia and I am ready to apply for my visas.

The cooking school who can help with visas said I need $42,000 AUD = 1 million Baht (as I have a child) on my visa, I am also waiting to sell my expensive car, which will put a lot of money in my account, the culinary school said I must wait to sell my car first?

Has anyone applied with a child and with less money and no issues and still got the visa?

I have income, however I don’t want to delay the process.

Thanks :)
Answer summary
The user seeks advice on applying for a Thai visa with a child, noting that a cooking school advised them to show a bank balance of 1 million Baht ($42,000 AUD). They are concerned about delays since they are waiting to sell their car to meet this requirement. Community comments suggest verifying if there are alternative sponsorship options for the child and mention other less expensive cooking schools.

double check with the consulate if they also require 500k baht for the child or whether you can just write a sponsorship letter for the child. You don't say how old the child is and that may have an impact, but if they require 500k baht each that's what you need to show, no way round it. BTW 42k AUD is slightly under so verify the amount they want in dollars when contacting them

Louise Black doesn't your child go to school? I'm not trying to be rude but if you don't know how the visa process works with immigration with being short on cash for proof of funds for a DTV visa you'll be in for a shock when you see tuition fees for 1 term

Jeff Stein child does online distance education, after leaving a private school in Australia.

I’m aware of the fees in Bangkok

I haven’t moved to Bangkok before, so it’s a first for everyone.

I have funds, not short of funds, still selling my assets in Australia. No issue

who wrote to you? If it was the school, double check with the consulate. If it was the consulate then that's what you need

yes it was the school. I’ve checked now on Google and chatgbt it says $26,000 is enough for 2 people. I’ll also check with embassy.

Thank you

Louise Black When I applied for my Non O I just about had.the equivalent of 800k baht in my bank accounts. I was further asked for proof of pension. As I am not on a pension, retired early, I sent a letter saying I was selling a property which was due to settle on a date prior to arriving in Thailand and that would fund my retirement. I signed it and uploaded it. I wasn't asked for proof of sale or settlement. Visa was approved.

I think the cooking school is wrong. Yes, you can have proof of 500,000 and your child can have proof of 500,000 but for the dependent, it seems you can substitute this for a formal sponsorship letter. I, as others said, would suggest you check with the consulate.

Louise Black it doesn't matter what you are selling or not. You need the required money in your account seasoned as long as required by the embassy. I.e., even if you are selling your car tomorrow, you would have to wait until the money was long enough credited on your account.
