Hello everyone,

So my situation is that I am currently on a Marriage Visa that expires on the 07 December 2024, and I want to change it to a "Thai child visa".

I just got a few days ago my bank account with the sum of 400K THB... I know, I am late for that... :(

I am a bit confused as to what are my options now?

I heard that I could change my visa from "Marriage" to "Thai Child" without going out of Thailand, but will it work as I just got my bank account seasoned?

If they require to have the bank account seasoned 3 months before the 07 December, it won't work.

Or do I have to leave the country, ask for a 3 months tourist visa and then go to Chaeng Wattana in order to switch from tourist to Non-O Thai Child Visa? In order to give me the time to have the bank account seasoned properly.

Thanks 🙏

Hello and good day,

I need to convert my visa exempt entry into a non-immigrant "O" extension based on taking care of a Thai child. I've got all the bits required and, if I go to CW on Monday, I'll have enough time before my current stamp expires to apply.

Do I need to make an appointment or can I just turn up with all the documents and my child on Monday and queue up ?

Hi all. I would like to ask if anyone has done a recent visa application for single 90 days at Savannakhet based on Thai child. Are the documents in the consulate website still the same requirements? Birth cert, photos, ta bian baan of kid + mother, ID card copy of mother

Hello

I intend to apply for a single entry, non-immigrant 'O' visa based on a Thai Child from the Thai consulate in Penang at the end of this month. However, the website says:

"In most cases, the visas can be collected on the third working day after the submission date from 15.00 to 16.00 hrs."

Is it really 3 days?

Obviously, if it is, I'll go elsewhere but I'd rather do Penang than Savannakhet. Also, I've heard too many horror stories about officials springing unexpected requirements on applicants at the last minute; with this in mind, are there any new financial requirements that I need to be aware of?

Sorry if a bit long winded. Looking for some advice. I’m Australian, over 50 and married to a Thai, although the marriage is not registered here. We have 2 kids, 1/2 Thai, one lives here in Phuket with my wife. I am currently in Phuket.

I was incorrectly led to believe i could get a guardian visa and my child’s school prepared the paperwork, but a guardian visa hangs off the kid’s (Ed, I assume)visa, and since he is a Thai citizen he does not have a visa.

I was then told I need to apply for a Custodian to a Thai Child visa, but on closer inspection the requirements list I was given by Phuket immi says the foreigner must have sole custody of the child. A copy of what I was given is attached as a photo.

1. Does this visa really only work if sole custody? Is there a joint custody equivalent?

2. Given my circumstances (over 50 and married to a Thai) are retirement and married the only options I have (ignoring Elite, Ed and Ltr for now)? And if so which is best/easiest?

I feel exhausted after a long hot day at HKT immi, where they also reminded me I have ‘too many’ stamps in my passport.

Thanks for kind advice. Cheers, KO

Hi.

Parent of a Thai child visa/years extension obtained in country. Extended / changed from Non B extension.

When you go to pick the year extension stamp up after a month do you need another letter from the bank to confirm money in the account ? Do you need to show anything letter or bank book ?

Also when can you withdraw money under 400k ?

Do I need to leave the country every 90 days ?

Thanks

Hello everyone,

I am on my first year extension of stay based on marriage which is due for renewal on 2nd April.

Due to some personal reasons I am contemplating to cancel my marriage extension and go to Savannakhet for a new non-immigrant category O visa based on Thai child.

My question is that do I need to cancel my existing extension by going to immigration or just leaving Thailand without re-entry permit will do it? If I choose the latter route would I have any issues in getting another non-O based on child, in Savannakhet?

Thanks,

Hi

I have a question regarding work permits and dependent visas.

I am a danish national, 45 years old.

I have a child here in Thailand, but I’m not with his mother anymore but my name is on his birth certificate.

Can I get a dependent visa without needing paperwork from his mom?

Also I’m planning on taking a 2 year trainee program in pedagogy, is there any way that could be used to obtain a work permit for working in schools here? Or is it a bachelor degree only? With no exceptions?

Thank you for your time.

Quick question, on converting to a Non-O based on Marriage or Support Thai Child is deposits of over 40,000 THB a month sufficient proof of the income requirement? Not working in Thailand so the funds come from other sources than employment.

Hi all, I recently learned you can only get a visa on the basis of marriage to someone on a retirement visa outside Thailand. Can you obtain the visa on the basis of being a parent of someone in school in Thailand in-country? This is a problem because many consulates refuse to issue anything to an Ethiopian passport, and Ethiopia has no consulate so you must navigate a fixer-dominated system in Kenya. Huge thanks.
