I want to apply for a Non-O family visa based on my Thai child from Vientiane, Laos. In the e-Visa section, it shows that I need to provide a 400,000 THB bank statement, but when I checked the embassy website, it only mentions 20,000 THB for a 90-day family visa. I am confused about whether I need to show 400,000 THB or 20,000 THB. Could you please help me? I am traveling to Laos on February 9.

Not many people seem to be on a non O guardian of a Thai child visa / extension. Is it more straightforward than the marriage visa or also a lengthy process?

Is it preferable/easier to apply for an extension of stay based on marriage or thai child? Any difference in the requirements?

Good day all.

Time for another extension of my non-immigrant "O" visa based on a Thai child. I've used the search function to look for changes to the criteria as the authorities are well-known for tweaks that can torpedo a perfectly decent application but it's very confusing.

Is it the case that the 400k now has to be seasoned in a Thai bank account for 90 days/3 months prior to application?

Dear group members,

I’m a French living in Phuket, currently holding a one-year Non-O Thai Child visa, which is set to expire on August 31st.

My daughter has dual nationality (Thai/French), and I’m now in the process of renewing my visa. However, immigration informed me that they no longer accept bank accounts from Bangkok Bank due to issues related to scams. They’ve asked me to open a new account with a different bank in order to proceed with the renewal.

I’ve visited several banks in Phuket, but so far, all of them have refused to open an account for me with my Non-O Thai Child visa. Some banks also require school enrollment documents (but my daughter is still too young), or they ask for an ED visa—which doesn’t apply, as she is Thai.

I’m a bit confused and honestly feeling stuck, so I’d really appreciate any advice or if anyone has experienced something similar and could share how they managed it.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards,

Clément

I heard sometime ago that if you had a child of Thai nationality and your name is on the birth certificate there is a visa which allows you to stay as a parent in Thailand once the child leaves education and starts work and supports a parent living in Thailand aged over 65 ?

I have currently a Non O visa with funds tied up in my bank account and would like the option of withdrawing the money and investing elsewhere

Anyone shine a light on this type of visa ?

Hello everyone,

So my situation is that I am currently on a Marriage Visa that expires on the 07 December 2024, and I want to change it to a "Thai child visa".

I just got a few days ago my bank account with the sum of 400K THB... I know, I am late for that... :(

I am a bit confused as to what are my options now?

I heard that I could change my visa from "Marriage" to "Thai Child" without going out of Thailand, but will it work as I just got my bank account seasoned?

If they require to have the bank account seasoned 3 months before the 07 December, it won't work.

Or do I have to leave the country, ask for a 3 months tourist visa and then go to Chaeng Wattana in order to switch from tourist to Non-O Thai Child Visa? In order to give me the time to have the bank account seasoned properly.

Thanks 🙏
