How Strict Are Thai Embassies About Bank Deposit Duration for Visa Applications?

Can someone clarify from personal experience how strict they are to see how long the 500k baht has been sitting in the account? If I just put that money into the account, let’s say a few weeks before I applied. Would that be a red flag or am I overthinking things?

Also, how strict are they with the income per month for a part-time freelancing gig? I was thinking to compensate for the low income of the freelancing gig, I would show more than the ฿500,000.

Any advice appreciated.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The strictness of Thai embassies regarding the requirement of maintaining 500,000 baht in a bank account before applying for a visa can vary based on the embassy and location. Some embassies may demand that the funds have been in the account for three to six months, while others might accept funds deposited shortly before the application without issue. It's advised to consult the specific embassy's requirements or use personal experiences shared by others for guidance. Regarding income from freelancing, presenting income over 500,000 baht can be beneficial to strengthen the application.

According the appllicaltion website, you show 3 months bank statements with at least 500.000 Thb or equivalent currency.

And than it starts, the Embassy staff judge your application, the Embassy staff makes a decision based on YOUR application. Their decision can NOT be challenged, they will OR issue a visa OR not issue a visa without a refund and without telling a reason.

Choice is yours, follow the rules on the application website to have the best chance to get the visa issued, or follow the rules of anonymous nicknames who tell you it is not needed and risk the visa get denied.

Good luck,

NO, The application website does NOT change randomly.

The staff of the Embassy are allowed to ask additional documents or be lenient with the documents that are handed over.

Decision making is something totally different.

Absolutely. Because some embassies require 6 months seasoning while for some others just having the money deposited the previous day is totally fine.

Depends on the embassy..

Australia was ( maybe still is) deposit the day before no issue.

Maybe the Uk also.

I’d recommend search the embassy in the search bar for example Hanoi deposit and you will get a good understanding of what’s required also search your embassy’s website most of the have the outlined requirements on the web site
