Got my one year extension non o retirement at pathum thani today .Only waited an hour and it was all done and dusted ,just followed the instructions on the handout
Only vague area is the home visit .We spend a lot of time at the mother in laws and he kept asking my wife what is our main residence and she didn’t give a very clear explanation and I think he said about cancelling the extension .Will have to wait and see what happens
Crazy rules because I’m retired and a man of leasure so why can’t i travel around ?
I plan to apply for the Non-O Retirement e-visa outside Thailand. I will enter Thailand using this e-visa, open a Thai bank account, transfer THB800,000 (or more) from my non-Thai overseas bank into my Thai bank account to season it for the extension application.
During the initial 90 days, can I travel back to my home country, or do I have to stay in Thailand until my extension application is completed? If I can travel back, do I return to Thailand using the first Non-O e-visa or come in on visa exempt ? Thanks
Update : Thanks for the helpful comments. Will get the re-entry permit so I can leave Thailand during the initial 90-day e-visa period (will check with Immigration office if this is possible too).
I have a question related to applying for the first time extension for the purpose of retirement. I will enter Thailand using Non-O Visa and I intend to apply the extension around 45 days before the visa expires. Would the required 800K deposit have to be transferred from abroad or showing existing funds in Thailand is sufficient? I intend to apply at Chaengwattana Office. Thank you for all the answers.
Hello, Does anyone know how early Koh Samui Immigration will let you make an appointment for a retirement visa extension? My current extension is nearing expiry. Thank you.
Got my retirement visa extension valid until 30. September 2026. multiple entries.
I guess it kicks in after my current non-O 90 days visa expires.
Timeline:
4. July 2025. Friday: consultation, paperwork, copies at Thai Visa Center, payment (1 hour)
7. July Monday - opening bank account. TVC staff was at the bank branch to assist (TVC car picked me up, 40 minutes at the bank, brought me back home)
8. July Tuesday - processing
9. July Wednesday - my passport with 1 year retirement extension and multiple entries and my bank passbook in my hands( My ATM card was with me when I left the bank). A messenger delivered passport and bank passbook about noon.
It was very quick, possibly, I got lucky and was within a batch of other applicants that they process once a week or in 10 days
I need to do my retirement extension this Thursday/Friday (when Imm. reopens) due to a sudden bereavement in the family at home as need to go and may well not be back before expiry.
I meet all the 800k method requirements.
My bank is Kasikorn. I think they're open Wednesday
Can anyone current and local tell me if it's OK to get the bank paperwork Wednesday so I can go to Imm. early doors Thursday?
Also, do I still need to transact and update my passbook on Thursday before I go?
Can't ask Imm. as it's shut and on a time constraint.
Retirement extension: every year I try to make a perfect application but every year I am thwarted! Today I had all the documents on the current list. 10 is a Google map of your house with lat and long. No use printing it out and writing on it. No, you need to drop a pin on it to show the lat and long. Fortunately the copy shop near room 103 could do this. Print with north to the top of the paper. Also, the photos of you in front of your house showing the house number should be printed across the page, not full page. I think this is so everything can be understood without rotating any document 90 degrees.
When I picked up the document list a couple of days ago they gave me form 2, form 9 and 11 I think which are for acknowledging that you know the penalties for contravening the terms of your extension.
However, it was effecient and helpful; only an hour from entering the bank for letter and statement until departing Immigration. Collect passport at 4pm next day.
Hi, back in December I asked a similar question but now I dig into details (I know about bt 800.000 wired from abroad, the seasoning and the bt 65.000 option).
Now, if I enter TH with a 90 day non-O Retirement Visa, have the bt 800.000 in my bank for well over 2 months, could I ask for 12 months Extension of stay shortly after I enter or do I need to respect a certain period before applying (I am aware that I “waste” approved time but I have a reason)?
