I'll be arriving in Thailand in May sometime and will settle on a "marriage' visa. Ive got my 400,000 sorted, yet to apply for the preliminary visa in the UK as I'm going for a short break in april(don't ask). We've had a family home in Surat Thanni since 2008. I have no yellow book yet or bank account yet. Has anyone recently been through this route recently and what was the exact steps? I'm not very good at following Thai websites or advice from thai officials. They always seem contradictory and inject their own ideas as to requirements. An expat Brit offered kind future help but I've deleted his contact details like a clown. Thank you all in hopeful anticipation that someone can clear this fog of confusion.

I’m traveling with my infant and feeling too lazy to go abroad right now, so I’d love to try the extension route first if possible.

I want to apply for a dtv visa

The situation is: I live in the district of Surat Thani and have currently a business visa & work permit

My idea is to change it to a dtv visa this month (business visa comes to an end) and I got all the needed documents to apply for the new visa

My questions:

1: I have a work contract as a freelancer - which is kind of a contradiction. So did anyone apply for this visa with a freelance work contract already?

2: I want to apply in Malaysia for the visa, how long does the process usually take - did anyone apply in Malaysia in the last 2-3 months in Penang or Kota Baru?

3: is it in theorie possible to apply first in Thailand and only if the visa is granted to leave the country

4: is it a very different process and really recommend to get help for a visa agency?

Hi all, currently on a 30 day visa exception and looking to extend to 60 days in Surat Thani. Does anyone know if the date extends from when it is due to expire (6th March) or will they renew from the date you go there and you risk losing days?
