Will I go through immigration at Suvarnabhumi or Surat Thani for my flight from Vietnam?

I am flying from Da Nang, Vietnam to Surat Thani. With a 2 hour layover at Suvarnabhumi.

I have always gone through immigration at Suvarnabhumi, but that doesn’t seem like enough time.

The visa registration wants me to specify the arrival port and flight number. Does anyone know will I go through immigration in Surat Thani and should list the flight that brings me there. Or should I be planning to list the Suvarnabhumi flight?

Thanks for your help 🙏 krap

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about the immigration process when flying from Da Nang to Surat Thani with a 2-hour layover at Suvarnabhumi. They are unsure if they should list their flight to Surat Thani or the flight arriving at Suvarnabhumi for visa registration. Comments suggest that immigration is typically done at Suvarnabhumi for international arrivals, and if the user’s baggage is checked through, they may only need to go through transit immigration. It's recommended to confirm with the airline regarding baggage handling and immigration procedures.
Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)

WARNING: Only trust Thai government websites with .go.th domains or Thai agent websites with .co.th or .in.th domains, as these require verified Thai registration and cannot be registered anonymously.

The official TDAC form is available at tdac.immigration.go.th, which uses the official .go.th government domain.

The services by AGENTS CO., LTD. does NOT charge any fees for arrivals within 72 hours. If you need to book more than 72 hours in advance, there is a service fee of $8.

Do not trust other sites pretending to be a trustworthy agency. Pay attention to delivery time - the service operated by AGENTS CO., LTD. has 1 minute delivery time for arrivals within 72 hours.

Don't fall for sites pretending to be agents.co.th or the official government tdac.immigration.go.th website. Always double-check the exact domain in your browser.

Scam services may take days to process your application, others may not even do anything. With these TDAC scam services you also need to worry about double charges.

Please watch out for TDAC misinformation spread by fugitive Jesse Nickles and his many fake accounts on Quora, TripAdvisor, Reddit, and other platforms.

If your baggage gets checked through, and your flight to Surat Thani leaves from the same airport (BKK or DMK),

then you will ENTER Thailand at the airport at special Immigration booths in the TRANSIT AREA while you walk from the international arrival terminal, to the domestic terminal

And that’s the booth where to show the TDAC

In Surat Thani, it is only your baggage which still needs to pass through customs

*** in case your baggage doesn’t get checked through, you need to enter Thailand through the “normal” Immigration, pick up your baggage from the caroussell and check in to the domestic flight

cool, then you will remain in the transit area and walk from the international terminal to the domestic terminal, and along this route you will pass the special Immigration booths

2 hour is plenty of time.if you fly the same airline you can even ask to label your bagage to surathani .on arrival just follow the signs for domestic connecting flights ,it might not show surrathani ,but it is your gateway to your next flight .it is about 200 meter after the normal pasport control,still before pasport control .safe journey

Thailand Digital Arrival Card - - - done online. EVERY foreigner arriving in Thailand needs to have a TDAC online form filled out and submitted before he can enter Thailand . . WATCH OUT there are scammer fake sites who will ask for money. The official Thai TDAC is for free

@Christopher ******
the BIG question here remains: At WHICH airport in Bangkok does your flight from Vietnam arrive, and at WHICH airport does your flight to Surat Thani depart ? I HOPE it is the SAME airport! DMK or BKK, one of those two

@Nongnuch *******
yes all the same bro. Post says the name

@Christopher ******
ah okay, I missed that. You wrote
@Suvarnabhumi ********
so it's the same airport for both flights

@Nongnuch *******
how did you make that blue?! Ha yeah same
Nongnuch ********
@Christopher ******
the DTV has nothing to do with the TDAC. The DTV is the visa you enter on. The TDAC is the mandatory "arrival card" which EVERY foreigner arriving in Thailand has to fill out and submit

🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ I guess it’s been that long since I had to exit and return. Not on the plane anymore? Thank you!!!

Most probably you will go through immigration in Bangkok, because after that, it's a domestic flight that doesn't require the visa control.

I flew many times to Chiang Mai via Bangkok, and we always went through Immigration in BKK.

no checked bags. Just carry on

@Oleksandra *********
yes you did but it matters if you went through immigration along the walk through the transit area, or if you entered Thailand through the "normal" Immigration booths that are in front of the baggage belts. If your baggage got checked through, you most obviously used the special Immigration booths between the international and the domestic terminal

Check with the airline which airport you have to do immigration.

@Michael *******
does Surat Thani have an immigration check point?
Nongnuch ********
@Christopher ******
yes it does because it is an international airport. But if you are arriving by a flight from a Bangkok Airport, your port of entry will be Bangkok
