Never been unsafe anywhere in Thailand in about 40 years.
Maybe stay away from Phuket and Pattaya.

Am Phur Road, the most live musice bars and others are in this road...at the beginning there is A3 Hotel and and at the other end of this road SU Hotel, just 150m from a Live Club. You can't compare the nightlife in Surat Thani with any other tourist places, but there are some very good clubs.

The only place I found worthwhile having a beer was the Liverpool supporters bar in town. Try ordering the sundried pork

Paul Cockley so you didn't see a lot...there a plenty of nice venues as bars, clubs and live music as you can find in any Thai city.
