I live in Thailand on a Non-O Retirement Visa, which needs to be extended in January 2027. However, my current passport is expiring in June 2027.
It seems to me that the intelligent thing to do is to renew my passport before I apply for the extension, but I am traveling and will not be able to renew it until I return to Thailand until the middle of November. The US Embassy currently takes up to six weeks to issue new passports, which cuts the the time fairly close. Should I go ahead and get the extension on my current passport? Will the fact that there is less than six months left on my current passport make a difference when applying for the extension?
