I have previously entered Thailand visa exempt but now I have renewed my passport, can I still use e-gates or do I need to line up?
Answer summary
When entering Thailand with a new passport after previously entering visa exempt, you cannot use the e-gates immediately. You need to go through a staffed immigration counter for your first entry with the new passport to register your biometric data. Only after this process can you use the e-gates for future entries with that passport.

Rules for Using Thai e-Gates
• Same Passport Required: You must have previously entered Thailand using the exact same passport so your biometric data (fingerprints and facial image) is already stored in the Thai Immigration system.
• New Passport Process: If you have a brand-new passport (even if you are a citizen of one of the 33 eligible nationalities), your biometric record is not linked to it yet.
• First-Time / New Document Check: You must go through a staffed immigration counter on your first entry with a new passport to register your biometrics. Once that entry is logged, you can use the e-gates on future trips with that same passport.
• Be a citizen of an eligible nationality (open to 33 specific countries at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport).
• Enter Thailand on a visa-exempt (visa-free) status rather than holding a physical visa or long-stay permit.
• Submit a completed Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) before arrival.
