Just asking for maybe some advice / insight on what would be best to do.
My wife and I are planning to move to Thailand in September. We’re currently staying in the Canary Islands (not registered here though).
Now, we want to get a DTV visa (Muay Thai), and I have over a million baht in my account, but not for longer than 3 months yet. In the end of November I will get an additional 1.5 million deposit into my account so there would be plenty in terms of ‘$$’ in my account to cover us both.
Now we’re thinking to fly to Thailand mid September on a visa exemption on arrival (60 days), then extend with another 30 days AND THEN fly to a neighboring country to get our DTV visas done there.
We’re also thinking about getting a condo in Thailand when we arrive, but I understand that most landlords only allow a minimum stay / contract of 1 year, which is totally fine with us, but ‘what if’ our DTV visas for some reason wouldnt be approved, ‘what then?’ Is kinda what we’re thinking.. Is it then possible to fly to Thailand anyway and for example get an ED visa instead? We’ve only been to Thailand once last year for 3 weeks so no overstay/borderruns etc etc..
Just kinda looking into how maybe some of you have done it and maybe have some advice?
What should I do next at this stage? Should I wait for an appointment email to make the payment in person at the embassy? I haven’t received any email yet.
Can I apply for DTV while outside of Thailand but not within the country in which I'm applying? (For example if I'm currently in Japan, can I apply at the Hanoi embassy online?)
I'm considering to apply for a DTV on the basis of a dentist appointment, regarding a crown procedure. Would a print of the appointment be enough to get approved?
My husband and I are UK citizens and travel to Thailand frequently as our son and granddaughter live there. Our son stays on a work visa and our granddaughter holds both a Thai and British passport.
When the ability to enter for 60 days came into effect with the option to extend to 90 days, my husband and I booked flights.
October - November for 49 days, we then booked flights December - March 89 days. We have now found out we can only stay a maximum of 90 days on a tourist visa over 6 month period.
We are both retired aged over 60 years old, is there another visa we can apply for before we consider changing our flights.
