I’m currently in Thailand on a Multi Entry Tourist visa ( METV) . I’m staying with my girlfriend and we have been to Immigration and registered myself as living there on her house document . (Yellow card I believe ) . I am shortly leaving Thailand to visit Vietnam for about a week before returning to her house again .

My question is do we have to register myself as living at her house on my return with immigration again . ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The questioner is currently on a Multi Entry Tourist Visa (METV) in Thailand and has registered their stay with a yellow house document at their girlfriend's address. They seek clarification on whether they need to re-register upon returning to Thailand from a week-long trip to Vietnam. Responses indicate varying practices across immigration offices regarding TM30 registration for foreign residents returning to the same address. While some users assert that re-registration is unnecessary if returning to the same location within 30 days, others caution that immigration office protocols may differ and recommend contacting their local immigration office for definitive guidance.

Ask your local immigration office, it is different from one to another. Phuket for intense require update registration when you return from abroad

I have been in the same situation, and went to immigration Nakhon Phanom and asked the officers there. If you are officially registered with yellow housbook, then you don't need to register again when reentering thailand and go to the same place.

Wrong, every foreigner has to be registered after entering Thailand with the TM30.

This is regardless if you have a yellow book or not.

ok everyone thanks for all the advice , there doesn’t seem to be a definitive answer to this .I think the safest way is to contact my local immigration and see what they require .

You could not possibly have the Yellow Book. Takes at least a month with City Council to issue you with the Yellow Book. It was hers Blue Book to register you. You are nothing there.

You are like a backpacker who happened to be registered for stay in her house.

Good she did it for you.

Returning to the same address, no new TM30 is needed.

If this is your final entry on your 6 months METV u don't need to bother as when you exit Thailand it is irrelevant. And next time you enter Thailand a brand new TM30 registration will be required.

Not true, if returning to the same address. Lifetime I will be returning to my condo, no change.

Yes you do if you are staying at her house. You should do it even if you leave the province that’s what i was told by immigration but i never did, only if I left the country

Best practice to avoid any issues is to register every time you return to your partners address after any stay anywhere. It is a simple online process that your partner is responsible for.

what if your staying at a hotel when you return ?

Larry Wheeler The hotel is supposed to file their TM30 for your stay, invalidates your previous one. Then, you need a new TM30.

But only if you need any services from Thai Immigration. If not, just ignore it.

You don’t need to do a TM30 registration again, but you do need to report that you are living there at that address

I never had and have never had a problem with it. I did 3 short overseas trips last year and had no problem at all

It was confirmed by Richard Burrow when he spoke to the Immigration Minister.

It's not necessary if going back to the same place, if you haven't left for over 30 days.

Alan Onit No, my TM30 is valid for as long as I have not changed address. Come back from overseas to my Condo after 6 months, the same address, no need for new TM30.

Alan Onit There's no one answer for every immigration office in every province. Each immigration office sets their own policy, and many do require a new TM30 if coming back from outside of Thailand. Some even require a new one for domestic travel.

That's why I only travel with my Thai licence when going within Thailand.

No TM30 entered.

Alan Onit Your Thai license has your passport number on it. There have also been multiple recent reports of hotels not accepting Thai license and only accepting passports since the new year.

GentleOwl4110 How? If you book in a hotel with your passport, they'll do a TM30.

TM 30 is required for every fresh entry. But if you are coming to the same place, you can ignore it unless you need immigration assistance inside Thailand.

Yes….you will have to put in the TM30 every time you return from an international trip

The housemaster can either put it in at immigration or online

Good luck

Potpong_Life not only international trip - that depends on your local immi. I had to do a tm30 after returning from a few days holiday in another province.

Kim Nielsen Some place where you stayed submitted their TM30, invalidated your previous one.

Jim Davis yes that's correct 😊 But I was replying to the post "every time you return from an international trip" which is true of course but omits staying in other places in Thailand - for which some immi offices require a tm30 and others don't.

exactly. Or event to which officer and their mood at the time. The official line, you should announce your trip before going.

At the end of the day, The Thai government rules are flexible and all immigration officers have got the legal right to, without right of appeal, to use discretion to take any decision regardless of government guidance.
