What is the process for extending a Non-B (work visa) in Thailand, and how does the re-entry permit factor in?

Hey all, hoping for some clarity on the Non-B (work visa) annual extension process, as my current agent isn't explaining it clearly.

A few questions:

1. Is it standard that the Non-B extension requires two stamps — first a temporary "under consideration" stamp (valid ~3 weeks while documents are reviewed), and then the actual 1-year extension stamp? Or can it be approved and stamped for a full year in one visit?

2. Can a Re-entry Permit be obtained at the same time as the annual extension, or does it require a separate visit once the full extension is in place?

3. How many times does the applicant need to appear in person at Immigration? Is personal attendance required at every step, or just for one specific part?

Any experiences or clarification from people who've been through this recently would be much appreciated!
Answer summary
The Non-B visa extension process typically allows for the extension to be completed in one visit, without the need for an interim "under consideration" stamp. A re-entry permit can generally be obtained at the same time as the visa extension, although it may require visiting a different desk at the immigration office. Personal attendance is usually necessary only once for the final stamping, but it varies by individual experience and local immigration office procedures.

Clarity a Non-imm B is not a work visa, it's typically done in one visit and get your multiple re-entry permit at the same time

I guess for first application they could put you on an "under consideration" I have heard of that before

I have had a work permit for 25 years and it's always been single visit, maximum an hour, but in recent years with the nee computerised system in an out in 20 minutes this year in Jan

I've had 20+ consecutive work based extensions, from Chaengwattana.

1. It's done in one visit; no 'under consideration' stamp.

2. You can get the re-entry permit on the same visit, but only after the new Extension has been stamped in your passport.

3. Only one visit is required. It must be in person.

Of course, other people may have different experiences.

1) I'm not sure about this. It likely can be different depending on the immigration office though.

2) You can purchase a re-entry permit the same time that you get the full 1-year extension issued. But it might be at a different desk so you would need to get the extension then go to the desk that sells the re-entry permits.

3) Generally for "under consideration" stamps ending, anyone can pick up the final stamp as long as they bring the passport.
