As many of us who have lived in Thailand for a number of years know, immigration rules can shift without much warning. I wanted to hear your thoughts on the new DTV visa, particularly regarding future enforcement.
How long do you think it will be before immigration officers at airports or land borders start requesting more detailed proof from DTV visa holders—such as:
– Proof of ongoing funds (e.g., showing that the 500,000 THB minimum is still available)
– Evidence that remote workers are still actively working for the company they listed on their application
– For those who applied through the Soft Power route, confirmation that they are actually attending classes or programs (e.g., signed attendance or progress reports)
Do you think this type of enforcement is likely in the near future, or will things stay relatively hands-off?
2nd question of the day. Thailand has implemented their (relatively) new 6 month tourist visa. I am considering the METV variant, but I am disheartened by the USD7000 bank balance requirement. I have heard that this requirement is not strictly enforced. I would like to know if any here are currently using or have used this visa option, and if so, have you been asked for the $7k bank balance upon applying for this visa?
Just to follow on my request regarding level of enforcement for T30 in Mataput immigration office (Rayong)....
My M6 form prints an entrance on the 27th of September.... I went this morning (October 2nd) with my landlord to get me registered and no question asked, I got stamped in minutes... Very smooth process and very nice people... They didn't shoot me and made it easy.... MATAPUT is definitely a nice immigration office to use....
My husband received a phone call from the immigration officer today saying that he wants to come and interview us and our neighbors 🙈 anybody had any experience of the immigration officer visited your houses? Thank you so much🙏
