DTV – Business owner, employee or freelancer? Which route worked for you?
Hi everyone, I'd love some advice from people in a similar situation.
My situation:
- EU passport, legal resident in Portugal, applying via the Royal Thai Embassy in Lisbon
- I own a US LLC (no Thai clients, all work is remote)
- I pay myself by invoicing my LLC as a registered freelancer in Portugal (monthly invoices plus matching bank transfers)
- Bank balance well above 500k THB
My question: which occupation would you choose to give the best approval chances?
1. Employee of my own LLC (self-signed employment letter/contract)
2. Business owner (LLC registration + invoices/transfers + cover letter as Director)
3. Freelancer (invoices + transfers, but only one client, which is my own company)
If you were approved (or rejected) with a similar setup, especially through Lisbon or another EU embassy, which documents did you submit for the employment/remote work proof?
Thanks a lot!
