I am curious to know if anyone has been in a similar situation as me. I am currently on a Non-B visa with a work permit and am an American citizen. My wife has an O visa as a dependent and is an Austrian citizen.
I recently got a new job, that is a remote job for a non-Thai company. I want to change my visa over and my wife's over to the DTV visa for a number of reasons. It's the actual right thing to do, it's cheaper, etc.
My question is, has anyone successfully change their thai work permit and visa over to a DTV visa? Mine doesn't expire until August, so also curious if you had to cancel it before?
For those with dependents on their DTV visa, has anyone done it with a spouse of a different nationality than their own? Did you have to get your own DTV visa approved first, before they could apply for theirs? If so, how long did this take you and where did you do it?
It's a bit of a complex situation and we're thinking of canceling our visas before they expire and go to a neighboring country to apply for our DTV visas. Thanks for any advice!
Looking for firsthand experience only, not agents!
I have a couple of questions about the DTV 1 after the initial 180 days can you do an in and out for another 180 days and can you continue to do that for the five year length of the visa. 2 can you get a work permit on a DTV.
I have question regarding Marriage Visa Extension based on Income. I understand that to get 1 year marriage visa extension you either need to bank 400,000 THB, or have a monthly income of 40,000 THB. I work remotely for my US employer, hence do not have a Thai work permit, but I do pay personal income taxes in Thailand on my income. Is it feasible for me to get the extension based on monthly income? Or getting an extension based on income is only possible if you work for a thai company and have a work permit?
The reason I want to go with the income route is because I think having 400,000 THB in an index fund will be more beneficial for me rather than let it rot in a Thai Bank.
Hi I’ve come in on a non b visa ( first 3 months) my employer has sent in my passport for the work permit application but I need to quit this job, can I go to get my passport back from immigration and withdraw my application. Will I be able to stay on the non b visa until it expires after 3 months?
I just heard of UMBRELLA work permit what how much cost?
so then I'll fulfill the citizenship requirements for 3 years working and paying taxes, if done for next 3 years ?, im married to thai girl. As I'm a freelancer work remotely so can't fulfill this work permit rule
Hi there. Just want to confirm something. If you got a work permit under non-o based on thai wife and then change to non-o based on thai child, will that affect the status of the work permit? Do I need to inform the labor department about it?
Quick question - I was applying for extension of stay based on employment, done it many times in the past, no problems and always for 1 year. This time, they told me that since my contract expires in September (and so is my WP), they will only extend it till September. So I basically have to pay twice more for this year extension. Is that right? I always though that extension of stay depends on valid work permit and all that anyway. Thanks for reply.
