I worked legally for last years with work permit and visa. I would like to stop working and somehow transition to DTV. Could be soft power or anything. I can show 1mln+ on my Thai account and history or p95 tax forms. I'm curious if anyone tried this and how this ended.

I showed my Thai Bank statement with over 8 million THB in saving and MF accounts, after 10 years of working in Thailand. Interviewer visa officer appeared more impressed than suspicious at Vientiane Thai embassy. I was carrying past few tax filings and provident fund withdrawal documents but they never asked for anything and approved.

I didn’t face any problem with bank too. Once I visited for card renewal and they did it on DTV

I used my Thai bank account as well. I’d been working with boi non b for 4 years, but lost my job due to restructuring. I applied and got a soft power DTV. Now I am actively looking for job in Thailand, and if/when I get a job the company can/will sponsor my non b again. In the meantime I’m going to my cooking classes and enjoying not working for the first time in 25 years 🤣

Very new… I’ve only had the dtv for a month… and like I said before I’m not going to go to the bank disclose my change in status 😅

ChattyGrape5292 exactly this is what I was curious. Any issues with bank trying to close your accout or anything? When did you get dtv approved?

i did use my Thai bank account to applied DTV. After i got DTV approved my thai bank account got closed and DTV is tourist visa. Thai government do not allow tourist to have Thai bank account. Depends on the bank though. But i would say more than 80% of DTV got their thai bank closed

Anonymous participant 691 disagree. You will be in country available for interviews and without need for costly relocation. Any company can apply for work permit as soon as you pass interview and process. Do you know how hard is to convince someone to move thousands of km away of home?

Anonymous participant 691 ok, then better to not use existing accounts. As side note it's funny. I am working in field where they decided that they need people, now I would need to leave country. Why they not let people with clean history of work permit just stay to build possible workforce for BOI companies. Those companies need people with experience to survive here.
