TLDR : Answer Summary
Converting a DTV visa to a Non-O visa based on having a Thai child may be possible, but there are specific requirements that must be met. Users have shared experiences indicating that while it is generally feasible, it may involve cancelling the current DTV visa and applying for a new Non-O visa. Requirements may include proof of financial stability such as bank statements and ensuring that legal documentation, like a birth certificate, reflects your relationship to the child. It's recommended to consult with local immigration officials for detailed guidance.
I changed from tourist stamp to non o without leaving the country and no bank account check immigration site and see what is required can be a bit confusing depending on which official you speak to
Generally, converting a DTV visa to NON-O visa for non-immigrants based on having a Thai child is not a problem if you meet the requirements. However, there are some important points you should understand. (More details)
You have to have it cancelled by the embassy or consulate that issued it for you. No idea if they do it remotely or if youre required to go in person. Then u apply for a fresh non O.
Don't believe there's a way to "convert". You can just cancel and exit, and apply for a new one. They're very separate visas so that's typically how it is done. Especially given that a DTV is a tourist visa, and Non-O is longstay.
IIRC, you should be able to convert a DTV entry stamp into a Non-Immigrant O extension of stay in country but the issue is that unless they already have a Thai bank account they will be unable to provide required 400k baht proof for the extension.
