Not many people seem to be on a non O guardian of a Thai child visa / extension. Is it more straightforward than the marriage visa or also a lengthy process?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Non-O Guardian visa for a Thai child can be as complicated as a marriage visa. Applicants must be the legal father of the child, often requiring a family court order if the name is not on the birth certificate. The process is similar to that of a Thai spouse visa but requires specific documents, including the child's birth certificate and Thai ID.

You have to be legally registered as the father which, if you were unmarried at the time of the birth, requires the family court if the child is under 8 so that is too big a hurdle for many I guess.

you need to be the legal father of the child. Often, Immigration does not accept your name on the birth certificate but requires a family court order confirming you to be the legal parent
