Hi, applying this visa for the first time. O visa to stay with a Thai family member. The intent is forever but what do we put for the intended date of departure? We will go to the immigration office to apply for an extension anyway. Thank you!

Hello,

I am going to get an O visa and was wondering if I would have to pay tax on the 800,000 baht that i would need to transfer to a Thai bank account?

Dose anyone know the answer?

Thanks

Hello. I am Japanese and entered the country on a tourist visa. I have a Thai wife. I prepared all the documents and applied for my first O visa (Thai wife) at the immigration office on Koh Samui on July 26th. They said they would send my documents to the head office in Hat Yai. My tourist visa expires on August 13th, but the immigration office told me that my O visa would arrive before then. On July 27, the immigration office also conducted a home visit. However, I was told that the visa had not arrived by August 13th. When I was accepted on Koh Samui, I was told that I had a 90% chance of passing, so I had to wait. They say if you pass, you won't be overstayed. Since then, I have been calling the immigration office on Koh Samui every day on weekdays to confirm whether my visa has arrived, but I have been told that it has not yet arrived. There are no stamps on my passport, only the writing in pen. Is it normal to have to wait this long? Or if I fail, am I overstaying? I'm in big trouble.

1301 is my reception number.

I also have a receipt for the payment of ฿2000.

The rules for an O visa say the money you are required to put in a bank account must be spent in Thailand. Does this mean that they will block transfers or something? How do they enforce their rule? My reading of the rule is as follows: "You may be planning to live cheaply here in Siam, buddy, but we're going to do all we can to force you to leave your money here. So don't get your hopes up!"

Correct me if I'm wrong!

And how do they enforce their rule? Simply by refusing to extend your visa if you break the rule?

My husband is here on an O visa and may have to leave the country without me to go to Indonesia last minute. We were told that there is some kind of process we need to follow and possible penalty during this waiting period? Sorry if I'm not clear but I don't have all the information myself. Does anyone know how it works? TIA

Hi Again, I have a few more queries, as follows:

Hubby has O visa, multiple entry. If he wants to get an extension or renewal, is it he that needs a Thai Bank Account with funds? Does it matter if it's in my, his wife's, name?

To get a signed affidavit, must he go to our embassy, or can he get it done here in Thailand by a solicitor?

Thank you in advance.

Hi, I'll get an o visa from the Thai embassy in KL. Will there be a problem about picking it up one week later since I'll head to tioman islands first? I heard that from laos, they can forfeit your visa if you don't pick up your passport the next day.
