TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses a user who has obtained an O visa and is hopeful about traveling to Thailand soon. However, commenters express concerns about potential lockdowns due to rising COVID-19 cases and outline challenges for entry, including the need for a certificate of entry from the embassy, COVID-19 insurance, and mandatory quarantine costs. The conversation reflects the difficulties expats face in traveling to Thailand during the pandemic.

You need to find a flight first. You need a certificate of entry from the embassy. You need 100k USD covid medical insurance. You need to pay upfront for very expensive 14 days of quarantine in a hotel. Your looking at thousands just to get into the country right now. Many of us are stuck in Vietnam and even we can't go now. There's no flights for one and not worth the massive costs.

Unfortunately, i believe Thailand is going into lock down once again. I work overseas and I have decided to remain at work until Thailand lift the restrictions.
The problem is that they have estimated that only 50% of the population will opt out of the vaccination and Thailand will have to open its borders at some point! The other issue is that Thailand will not be prepared to offer the vaccine until the middle of 2021! I believe that Thailand are only delaying the inevitable!
time will tell. Thailand has no base of comparison . With 70.M pop.and 4500 cases and 60 deaths. Same in Nam. We're either very lucky or behind the curve.
I have good doctor here and will take his advice. Even Fauci couldn't offer prognosis on our data.
Great! Nice to see someone arriving; too many expats leaving. Occupancy rate in apartment complex where I live in Pattaya is less than 20%. Waiting for management notice they closing down. More security guards, service personnel, and accountants than tenants.
