So I am exploring the idea of coming to Thailand on a DTV (soft) visa via Muay Thai training. Undecided on where to live, thinking either Bangkok or Pattaya. I have been to Thailand several times and will be coming next year to scout out gyms and neighborhoods. Plan is to come in 2028 as I have obligations for tge next 2 years.

Have one question that I haven't found much info on from searching previous posts.

On a DTV visa will I be able to get a Thai drivers license or will I be able to use my international drivers permit with my US DL? I plan on leasing either a car or motorcycle when I come on my DTV.

*I would appreciate advice. I am arriving by air into Bangkok for a 10-day stay in 2025. I will have a visa exemption (60-days). I possess a valid driver’s license (auto) including an international driver’s permit. Will an agency be able to assist obtaining a driver’s license (auto) in Thailand for a foreigner?*

Nonthaburi will not issue a certificate of residency unless you have a long term visa.

I need this to renew my Thai drivers license that expires next month.

Traveling to Thailand in April, and want to rent scooter/motorcycle on Kon Larn, as an American do I need a Thai or international Driver's license?

Hi all! New here. I'll be traveling to Thailand for 12 weeks starting January. I have two questions:

1. Rabies vaccine - can I get it in Bangkok? As the only protection it gives is that you have 48 hrs instead of 24 hrs to find a doctor, I prefer to get it in Thailand if possible, since it is really expensive for the protection it affords.

2. Driver's license - I plan to rent or buy a moped there to get around, and am planning to get an international driver's license for Thailand and probably Laos. Is that necessary though? Are people usually checked for international license or will your own country's be sufficient?

American coming in October. Probably going to do multiple entry tourist visa at first but will transfer to education visa sooner than later... What's the deal with driver's license for motorbike? I do not have an international driver's license and will not be able to get one before I come. TIA
