TLDR : Answer Summary
A user in Patong, Phuket is seeking recommendations for reliable scooter rental companies and asking about the likelihood of being pulled over by the police for license checks. Several commenters shared personal experiences with police checkpoints, noting that checks for licenses and helmets are common, and that an international driver's permit with a motorcycle endorsement is required. Recommendations for scooter rental companies included 'Jackun' and 'Dang Boss Carrent,' with assurances of good service and rates.

I was at Bangla Rd and the beach today and watched the MIB pull over approx 20 bikers. All with no helmets. All in 30 mins..
