Has anyone moved the 800,000 required for immigration from Bangkok bank to Kasikorn bank 3-4 months after getting your visa.

I have read some old posts, but the law seems to change often.

Is it best to just move 400,000 , wait a week and then put the other 400,000 in or get a bankers cheque for 800,000 and transfer it in one go.

Thank you in advance 🙏🏼
Answer summary
The conversation discusses the best practices for transferring 800,000 baht required for immigration from Bangkok Bank to Kasikorn Bank. Users recommend splitting the transfer into two transactions of 400,000 baht each, executed on the same day, to avoid complications with immigration requirements. It is essential to maintain clear records and bank statements from both accounts to demonstrate compliance during the next visa extension process.

To be 100% sure, I would go to the immigration and tell them you want to transfere your 800 to another bank. Then ask immigration, what way they prefere your dooing it.

what's the rationale for splitting it up?

You can transfer 2000,000 internal from bank to bank no need to split it up

I am doing just that and the IO said it is ok but maintain the audit trail of the transfer for next extension. The Counter cheque takes a day or two to clear so i can see a problem there. Cash is king in this case i think.

i keep mine in government saving bank. never had any issues and immigration like that’s its with the government bank who provide a letter and 12 months statements for 100 baht. it also gives a small amount of tax free interest.

move 400k, should settle seconds later, check, then do other 400k, no reason to wait if it settles

I've moved mine twice in 2 years as the Bkk bank closed then just recently K bank closed.

Open your new bank account first

Order a statement on the day you're withdrawing the money from your old bank , update your book . Withdraw or transfer the money that day and put it straight into your new bank that day

If you're closing your old bank get the bank book updated to show zero as your bank book as the statement may only show the amount on the previous end of working day .

If you have doubts ask your immigration. I double checked everything again just before i moved my money for the second time in a year .

Michael Boyton you have no problem with that, but this does not mean to everyone not to have problems with that.

Michael Boyton same here, with three different accounts.

I took the 800k in cash and walked into the next bank to deposit it on my new account.

Withdrawal and deposit at the same day so there was no gap.

Gerar Teuben risky, Brandon's method is Murphy's law foolproof.

It’s isn’t risky as long you do it at the same day but 2 times 400k works also of-course

best to do 400k first. The way you don't break the rule that you must never have less than 400k in the bank. If something unusual happens and your deposit isn't credited until the next day, then you'll have a gap that will cause your extension to be denied. Also technically you did not have 400k in the bank while you were walking your 800k to the new bank.

If you take out and deposit at the same day there is no gap.

And if you hand in the cash it will accredited on the same day for your statement.

But 400k works also.

he cash out not transfer. No gap no problem.😉

Correct, as long it’s done on the same day, you’re fine.

Same day doesn’t mean next 24 hours which would be next day. 😳

Of-course on the same day like hours apart.

As long both withdrawal and deposit are on the same day it’s fine.

Young the requirement is “ showing the total amount not less than 800k”. The bank transfer was a continuous process, not a break of more than a day, so I don't think it will be a problem. I gave the immigration officers both passbooks along with the new bank letter, and they said it was fine and were pleased that the documents I provided were concise and clear.

MagentaGoldfish4443 he might have meant, 24 hours, so while you walk to another bank with your money, maybe 10 mins? for this 10 mins, you do not have that money in your bank account. that is maybe what he meant.

Canceled BBL account withdraw 800K cash and deposit in Kbank on same day. Keep the bank book is fine.

MagentaGoldfish4443 Don’t do that the 400-400 is the way to go after it’s been seasoned

Bob D'Andrea I did and no problems.

MagentaGoldfish4443 terrible advice. Great way to be denied the next extension.

i was given exactly the same advice by the IO when extending my non-o. As long as I keep the audit trail of the transfer.

for me not a problem. The cash is fixed deposit. The immigration officer like to see the precise and short statement.

Greg Alexander I care about privacy, don’t you? You don’t know his situation, I believe the bank frozen his account and can’t withdraw twice. This is the only choice. Don’t think you’re clever enough than others. It is really stupid.

MagentaGoldfish4443 different situation, different outcome. The advice you are giving the OP is actually VERY BAD and maybe this is the reason why you have to hide behind an anonymous profile, so nobody sees how st...d you are

Move 400k per time

Yes, it's still better to do 400,000 in 2 separate transactions a few days apart. Just do a transfer, don't need to deal with checks.

And make sure you don't close the Bangkok Bank account, because you'll need the bank statements and bank letters from BOTH banks for your next extension to show the money being moved and that you still met last year's requirements. After the upcoming extension, you can then discard the Bangkok Bank account if you'd like.
