Hi. When applying for retirement non o. For the first 3 months can you show the money in a uk bank?
Answer summary
When applying for a retirement NON-O visa, you can initially show funds in a UK bank account if applying at a Thai embassy. However, once in Thailand, you will need to have 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account, or a combination of pension income and bank balance to qualify for the visa. Some immigration offices, like Jomtien, may have specific requirements regarding how long funds must be in a Thai account prior to application.

anything to do with immigration requires funds in a Thai bank account. If you don't have a Thai bank account then you need to get the visa from an embassy as it's meant to be done. Embassies are for visas, immigration is for extensions.

John So then no, you need the 800k in a Thai bank account in your name or leave to get your Non-O in a neighbouring country if you don't have a bank account

John So No seasoning for the 90 day Non-O visa (except in Jomtien Immigration)

Then unless you're applying at Jomtien immigration, the money only needs to be present the day you apply, and must show as a transfer into Thailand from overseas. There is no amount of time it must be in your Thai bank account. Except Jomtien requires the money to be in your account for 2 months already at the time you apply for the non-O visa.

You can't open a bank account, so it doesn't matter how long. You have to have a long-term visa already in order to open a bank account. So how long it needs to be in the bank doesn't matter.
