Why dont the banks / goverment allow people on tourist visas to open highly limited bank accounts that could be a win win. E.G limit transfer amounts in / out monthly. Limit transfers to foreign accounts etc that way day to day spening is possible but business / work isn't.
I don't know about you guys but I would be happy with a bank account with a tiny limit such as 1,000 baht per month all my large spending can be on credit card and my small day to day stuff on my thai account.
This limit would stop people running businesses or getting paid through their thai bank accounts but allow legitimate tourists to use the bank account
Surprised today going to Bangkok Bank asking to open a bank account based on a 90 day O visa and holding the document provided from the immigration office.
There answer was that they don’t open anymore account to foreigners even though I explained that I am not on a tourist visa but a O non immigrant one .
My second attempt was going to Krungsri and all looks well. They copied all my documents and they will call me in two days.
Anyone managed to buy things on Lazada? Without a Thai bank account it's a real PITA. My foreign Credit Card get rejected. It used to work a couple of weeks ago. Customer support has been unhelpful.
I’ve been on a DTV visa for two months, and I’ve visited almost all the banks in Bangkok, including Kasikorn Bank, Bangkok Bank, and several others. I’ve even tried different branches in less touristy areas, but no one is willing to open a bank account for me.
This makes it very difficult to pay rent and utility bills every month. I would greatly appreciate any advice or leads that could help.
