TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry addresses the possibility of opening a bank account in Thailand with a DTV visa. Responses indicate that it may be challenging to do so, as ownership of a condo does not necessarily facilitate account opening under this visa. Suggestions include exploring alternatives such as True Money accounts and obtaining a yellow house book and pink ID card through local government offices for better banking accessibility.

Open true money account and can do every things scan anywhere seven eleven also, pay bills. Why need bank account if you put money in Thailand will be difficult to transfer back outside Thailand . They will ask you to show prof that not take money from Thailand.

But topping up TrueMoney wallet requires cash or a linked Thai bank account.

Can add credit or debit card ( visa, Mastercard). Only minus that can not take cash out if you are not Thai.

You cannot and if you have to sell and repatriate the money abroad you have to prove the money came in from abroad due to AML regulations.

Have you tried to open a bank account if you own a condo go to your tassaban government office and apply for a yellow house book you also get a pink ID card should cost you no more than 500 baht . I would do that first if successful take you new yellow book pink ID card and passport and see if you can open a bank account 20 years ago you could walk in to a bank slap 50k on the table and walk out smiling 10 minutes later !! Times have changed

to apply yellow book you need to have at least 180 days of your visa which is very difficult for DTV. 2 Thai citizens warranty and make appointment with Tessaban. For example in Chiang Mai the availability time is in March now.

Depends on district office. I did yellow book and pink card couple weeks ago in Bangkok. On first visit just walk in and review documents and get appointment time. Appointment was three business days later. Had also less than 180 days on my non-b.

banks only care about the visa now

It’s good to have the yellow house book and pink id card but to a bank it means nothing

DTV_Begpacker Not true at all..

Many branches consider condo ownership a valid enough reason to offer an account. I would even say start trying with the condo blue book.

recently.

Many branches accept married or condo owners having accounts on a DTV.

As is often the case, there's no actual ban just guidance and local decisions. Deposit a few million baht in the bank and watch those 'rules' just fade away.

DTV_Begpacker wrong if the bank ask for my passport I always show my pink ID card never had a problem it’s only 3 days they saw it as I made a large transfer to Bangkok . The pink cards a blessing I’ve used it to buy a new suv as well as internal flights plus my dentist charges thai rates
