DTV approved from Fukuoka, Japan 🇯🇵🇹🇭
I’d like to share my experience applying for a Thailand DTV under the Workcation category from Japan.
My timeline
* Sept 14, around noon — Submitted my application
* Sept 18 — The embassy contacted me about my police clearance certificate. I had initially submitted the sealed envelope because I understood that opening it beforehand would make the certificate invalid. The embassy asked me to open the envelope and submit the certificate itself, so I did.
* Sept 25, around 11 p.m. — My visa was approved 🎉 It took six business days after I applied.
Documents I prepared
My application included documents such as:
* Passport and photo
* Proof of residence in Japan
* Police clearance certificate
* Contract documents explaining my remote work arrangement
* A cover letter explaining my situation
* Company and financial documents
* Travel and accommodation documents
* Portfolio / work-related materials
What I learned
The police clearance certificate process was a little confusing in my case. In Japan, The certificate isn’t supposed to be issued for Thailand, so we need to contact Gaimusho first, it took 1 week but this is even very fast.
This is only my personal experience. Requirements and processing times may vary depending on the embassy and each applicant’s situation. I hope this helps anyone preparing a DTV application 🤍🤞✈️
