Hi- I am a US citizen on a Non-B visa (married to Thai wife) and looking to do another yearly extension at ChaengWattana by June 07, 2024.

I saw I can apply for an extension 30 days prior (?) to my permitted stay date of June 07 which would be as early as May 08, but the main issue is I will be on overseas travel from May 2-12 and then again May 21-June 16.

Given that I'll only be in BKK from May 13-20, what are my options for extending my visa, especially if there is the 'under consideration' period (3 weeks?) where they hold your passport?

Thanks for any advice or recommendations.

Hi,

When applying for the one year extension as a holder of the non immigrant type o married visa, I have understood that it is a month of consideration by immigration before being granted the extension.

Is this procedure the same following years? Or is it a one day procedure before the extension expires?

ThanksšŸ™

I have a particular question about what happens in the weeks after applying for non-O based on retirement.

Context: I will self-apply for a 90day non-O based on retirement in Jomtien, and ~2 months later for a 1year extension. I will be using the 800k in bank method.

I will apply in early August, and then plan taking a 30+ days trip through Thailand. My understanding is; that I will be getting an ā€˜under considerationā€™ stamp in my passport on the day of the application.

My questions are:

- Will I get my passport back on the day of the application, or will it stay with immigration during the ā€˜under considerationā€™ period?

- How long is the ā€˜under considerationā€™ period?

- Do I need to be back at Jomtien immigration on a specific date (eg. 14 days later), or can I immediately start my trip and return to Jomtien immigration at a later time, say 45days after the initial application for the 90day non-O. I will be staying in Thailand for the entire period.

- Will there be any 90day reporting requirements?

Thanks for helping!

Hi everyone! I will need my first Covid extension (after TR60+30) next week.

I spoke with the IO in Pai and they apply the 15day "under consideration period" before giving 60 days, and as I'll be in Bangkok next week, I am thinking of getting it there instead.

1. Is Chaeng Watthana still the place to go? I can't book "covid extension" on the website ( [members only] )

2. are they using the 15day "under consideration" period too? I understand that some IOs do, some others don't

3. Is any additional document (on top of TM30, TM6 and TM7) needed? (e.g letter from the embassy etc) from recent experience?

Thanks a lot!

Just been to immigration today for my extension of stay on dependant visa.

I arrived on a single non - o in august 24th after doing quarantine in bkk.

Anyway went for my extension of stay and instead of getting the normal under consideration for 14 days I was told my under consideration is 21st December so go back then for my dependant visa.

Is this normal or what?

Why so long if any one has any ideas?

I might get called back to work before then so itā€™s may be pointless doing what I did today with all the paperwork etc etc.

Can any one shed any light on this?

Thx

Regarding the 'under consideration' period when obtaining one year extension based on being married to a Thai: there is a recent answer here about this type of extension that said "do NOT draw down any.of the 400,000 Thai baht money used to obtain this".

- Can you please confirm whether or not the 400,000b should remain untouched during the under consideration period?

- And if it should not be drawn down below 400,000b does that mean that when we go back to the immigration office after the under consideration period we have to bring proof that the 400,000b funds is currently still in the bank?

- What all is required to bring to immigration after the under consideration period?

Hi everyone,

I am due to go for a 1 year extension on a Non-O based on marriage. After my application is there an under consideration period or do you get the extension stamped in on the same day?
