What does the "under consideration" stamp mean when applying for a 30-day extension at Thai immigration?

Hello! I went to Immigration at the Promenada Mall in Chiang Mai yesterday to apply for the Embassy Letter 30 day extension, and for 1900 baht I received a "under consideration" stamp to return to immigration on October 7... Is this a similar situation that is happening in Phuket where you get 2 weeks then another 2 weeks after your 2nd visit to immigration? Or is this the only extension I will receive?

I am currently on an expired ED visa and I am still trying to find a way to change it into a long term visa...Did they do this because there is no way for me to obtain a new visa with out leaving Thailand?

TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user recently applied for a 30-day extension at the Chiang Mai immigration office and received an "under consideration" stamp, requiring them to return on a specified date for the final extension approval. They are questioning if this process is similar to experiences in Phuket and expressing concerns about their expired ED visa and the potential need to leave Thailand for a new visa. Community comments confirm that the 'under consideration' process is standard for this type of extension, allowing individuals time to return for the official extension approval.

Yeah....I got my "under consideration" stamp until 21 Oct....so then I go back to immigration to get my official visa extension for 5 more days.....wow....I didn't realize this until today after spending 10 hours at BKK immigration....only to get "under consideration". WTF????

EVERYONE gets an under consideration stamp who applies for the amnesty extension with the embassy letter. You'll get the completed stamp on October 21.

yeah. I'll probably have to go back to the US Embassy to get a more official letter...

Since they (immigration) said my letter from email wasn't the original.....looks like BOTH Immigration and embassies NEED to get on the same page...

Agree on what's required....

What do you mean? I never heard of anyone being rejected from getting a complete stamp once they have an under consideration stamp.

That is what happens to EVERYONE who applies for the 30 day embassy request extension. You get an under consideration stamp, go back on that date and get the rest of the extension inked in

Return as instructed to obtsin the balance of 30 days.
