Is it normal to receive a two-month under consideration period for a one-year visa extension in Thailand?

I went to immigration in Ubon to do my one year extension today , married to thai. I got over two months under consideration. Because 4 weeks under consideration starts on the expiry date of the last extension according to the officer. Is that normal practice?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user experienced a longer-than-expected wait of over two months for a one-year extension based on their marriage to a Thai national. This raised questions about the norm for the 'under consideration' period for extensions. Comments from others in the community suggest that such delays can vary by region and personal circumstances, with some reporting shorter or longer wait times at different immigration offices in Thailand. It seems that having a 30-day 'under consideration' period is common, as this often marks the beginning of the new extension period.

I honestly do not now a country that has a higher fee for retirement. It's funny Thai retirement is only 1000 baht a month. Wish they had the military special like the phillipines

I usually had 6 weeks under consideration in Chiang Mai, because of their home visiting as the office told me

wow, that's a lot. I hope they'll not come. Last year I spent about 4 hours on something that could have been done in 30 min if he would have been some what organised.

At the offices that give 30 day under consideration that is normal

That's because that 30 day under consideration stamp is actually the first month of your new year extension ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

When you go back on the 26th of April you will get the rest of the year extension inked in

I didn't catch it when they stamped 26 April to come back for extension. I guess I will come back on 25th.

you SURE you got an under consideration stamp dated the 26th of April? As a rule that doesn't happen, they're pretty good about knowing weekends AND most thai holidays too

do you know if ChaengWattana with the 21 day under consideration is like this being 21 days from application or 21 days from end of current stamp?

remember, IF you need to leave/come back during this new under consideration stamp you need a NEW re-entry permit (which is only good for that stamp validity)
