Hi everyone,

I am due to go for a 1 year extension on a Non-O based on marriage. After my application is there an under consideration period or do you get the extension stamped in on the same day?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a 1-year extension on a Non-O visa based on marriage in Thailand, there is typically a 30-day 'under consideration' period. During this time, applicants may receive an in-home visit for verification, and the extension will be stamped in the passport after the consideration period is complete.

I think what you're confusing
@Hen***
is the fact that you are doing two completely different things with different departments inside the immigration office.

You applied for a 90 day non-O visa based on marriage, met the requirements to do that, most likely had the home visit to get that visa AND it went under consideration the 14 days before you went back to get the Non-O visa and new 90 day stamp inked into your passport.

Now you're applying for a yearly extension of stay, you'll meet the requirements to do that, get a 30 day under consideration stamp and during that time most likely have an in home visit to get the extension and then at the end of the 30 days you go back and get the year extension inked into your passport.

It's two separate things that require two different vetting processes. Believe me they're not singling you out by any means.

Usually a one month UNDER CONSIDERATION period.

Do NOT draw down any.of the 400,000 Thai baht money used to obtain this one year Extension as Married to Thai.

thanks James. Another question, should I expect another visit from the immigration officer at my home? This is my first 1 year extension after getting a 3 month Non-O in country.

got it. Seems a bit discouraging that I went through this whole process less than 2 months ago... Now I have to do it all again. Thanks James and have a great day further.
