Hi,

When applying for the one year extension as a holder of the non immigrant type o married visa, I have understood that it is a month of consideration by immigration before being granted the extension.

Is this procedure the same following years? Or is it a one day procedure before the extension expires?

Thanks🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a one-year extension on a non-immigrant 'O' married visa in Thailand, the procedure typically involves an 'under consideration' period, which lasts either 30 or 45 days depending on the immigration office. This period begins the moment you apply for the extension, and during this time, some offices may conduct home visits. Once the under consideration period ends, you will need to return to the office to finalize the extension.

It was never one day. And the consideration time depends on your IMM office. In Bangkok and some other provinces 45 days, others 30 days before your current extension expires

unless I'm not understanding it has nothing to do with how early you apply (that is a totally different parameter allowed, some offices allow you to apply 45 days before and some allow you to apply 30 days before)

The Under Consideration period given when you apply for an extension based on marriage to a thai or raising thai children is added to your current expiration date (as it is the first part of your NEXT yearly extension <- the one you're applying for).

Yearly extensions of stays based on marriage ROUTINELY get under consideration stamps (which vary in length by office)

The under consideration period is actually the BEGINNING of your new yearly extension.

During this time it is not uncommon for some offices to do an in home visit.

You return to the office on the date the under consideration stamp expires and they ink in the rest of the yearly extension.
