Hi all

I applied for my first extension of stay based on being married to Thai natinal at Khon Kaen immigration on 8.1.2020 - my single non o m 90 day visa was due to expire on 27.1.2020 so I went early to ensure plenty of time to resolve any issues raised.

The IO was professional and efficient and all documentation was accepted - we were given an under consideration stamp dated until 26.2.2020 and told to come back on that date.

In the meantime the investigation dept would conduct a home visit and we would have to bring 2 witnesses to KK Imm to be interviewed.

The investigation dept has reiterated that we need to return on 26.2.2020 - is this not a period of 48 days of consideration and gives no time to resolve any issues on 26.2.2020 -

Please could you confirm my understanding of the 30 day consideration period?

Many Thanks

The 30 days is the first 30 days of your year Extension of Stay and added to your current stay. If you go 1 month before the end date you will have almost 2 months before you go back, if you went on the last day of your current stay you will have 30 days.

You report with your passport and additional documents as asked at the Immigration Office on the date stamped in this stamp.

Yep, I can rant like others. But I hope I did explain a little bit how the world works for those who never been away from home.

You get a new extension based on the previous date, which was
*****
/2020. So your new extension will be good until
*****
/2021. The under consideration period is 30 days after expire date of the old one.

Normally when they do the home visit, they go to the people that live beside you, and interview them, that's what they done, when they came to my house.

I had to get the neighbour too mate , he only asked a few questions, took no more than 5 minutes , must be dozens of slightly different requirements.
