Hi, do you think I would have a problem applying for a DTV with a new/unstamped passport? I have always traveled within Europe, so my priority was not owning a passport. For the other things, I shouldn't have any concerns. I'm applying from Italy.

Thank you for your help ✌️

For Americans that applied for the DTV in the USA, did you have to show a plane ticket and intended place to stay ? The LA consulate lists neither as a requirement and it says you can use the visa whenever you want.

But did they make you show a plane ticket and place to stay in Thailand or no ?

How months of bank statements did they want ?

Because when you apply it says don’t apply more than 3 months before intend stay.

# Greeting beautiful helpful ppl, I am currently on a student visa that is valid for another 3 months, I understood I should cancel it before applying for DTV.

Should I cancel it now? or for some reason its better to wait until I fly out? from experience please 🙏

EMERGENCY UPDATE! Hello, It's Maxim Thibodeau I'm posting from my wife FB because we only have her phone with us. We went to Udon Thani to get my 60 days extension based on marriage (visit spouse) and got told by the officer that this extension has been discontinued for people that entered on the new 60 days visa exempt entry.

I was trying to get the 60 days after the 30 days last month. I always do 30+30+60, but now with the new 60 days visa exempt entry, only 60+30 is possible. Can't do 60+30+60 nor 60+60. I asked. The 60 days extension is completely discontinued unless you are coming from the 90 days Non-O.

If it affect Udon Thani, it probably affect other immigration, so please call before going. So for me instead of bouncing every 120 days, it's now every 90 days. Well, the 90 days Non O at Savannakhet might not be a bad deal anymore given that can extend 30+60 days from it which total 180 days. The 60 days today would have given me 150 days.

And because it was a holiday yesterday, I'm gonna have to bounce from 1 day overstay because the border never close for holiday while immigration does and you don't get the overstay stamp nor 500thb fee when that happen. So if I'm able to bounce, it would be further proof that Nong Khai is still a piece of cake. My wife is with me, and we do have marriage certificate, etc. I guess this probably help vs going solo without being married. If I'm somehow denied or get told that it's the last time, I'll either use border run company next time or go wirh the DTV.

I will update via a comment below after I cross back into Thailand. If you don't hear from me within a few hours, it mean that I'm stuck in Laos. Everything should be fine. I think a warning would be worse case scenario in that border. Haven't had a single warning in 12 years, but things are changing.

I'm really a bit disappointed with Thai Immigration.

I travel a lot, and my passport book was full. I asked the Chiang Mai Immigration office to move my Visa Extension (based on Retirement), and my Multi Re-entry permit to a new passport book.

In the new passport, officials painstakingly recreated many, of not all of the previous visa entries, and then proceeded to add "correct copy" signature stamps below each catagory.

Now, three pages are already consumed.

Why couldn't they just put the visa and the re-entry stamp on the first page and use the computer records at every desk to review the prior stamps if necessary? Why do they have to be recreated in my passport?

I realize begpackers and visa abusers' histories needs to be reviewed at the borders, but isn't that what the computers are for? Cant annual visa holders be exempted from copying all the stamps

This is going to get ridiculous if I stay here for 10+ years. Not to mention the time it will take to review and re-stamp 20+ annual visas and then add "correct copy" stamps into a new passport in 2034.

MY other hope is that one day much of this application and renewal process can be automated and moved online. Cheaper and more efficient.

I currently have a non-O foundation volunteer visa and work permit that I've held for 15+ years. I'm switching to a religious (RA) visa soon. The department of religion said I need to apply for an E-visa and recommended getting it in Penang, Malaysia.

The problem is that I can't apply for an E-visa if I'm in Thailand. What's the process for switching visa types like this?

I see my post was removed. The answer from Tod was great. Not sure why it was removed. I had a follow up question about my wife and son. Do they need to apply separately or is there a place to include them as "followers" on my application?
