TLDR : Answer Summary
There is no specific time limit required for staying in Laos to receive an entry stamp back into Thailand. Depending on your visa status, you could potentially come back after just a few minutes or could need to stay 1-2 nights, especially at certain border crossings. Some users reported varying experiences based on their visa history and the discretion of immigration officers. It's common for people to cross the border for a stamp within hours, but staying longer may sometimes be necessary depending on the border and personal circumstances.

5min. Many people come up to load on a land crossing and just cross the border to get the stamp and come right back.

Depends on your recent Thai visa/exempt/extension history.

Do you have a visa or not? With a visa, no time at all. If you don't have a visa then you'll need to stay 1 or 2 nights at most borders.
There is no time limit for staying outside of the country. If you get let back in depends on the immigration officer at the border and your travel history.
