Hey everyone!

I’m looking for some advice and hoping someone here might be able to help. I’ve already reached out to my country’s embassy, but it’s been 10 days, and I still haven’t heard back.

I’ve been working in the film production industry for about 15 years. On average I work 6-7 months and the rest of the time, I’m traveling. Lately, I’ve mostly spent that time in Thailand.

I’m thinking about applying for the DTV as a freelancer to take advantage of the 6 month tourist visa, but I’m not sure if my situation fits the requirements. My work is based on project contracts, and I get paid directly through payslips. I can provide proof of financial stability, like contracts from various production companies, payslips, and bank statements.

Since my job doesn’t always require me to be on set, I have weeks when I can work remotely during the prep phase, but I’m technically not considered a remote worker.

I’m not looking for a job in Thailand, I just want to live there for a few months a year while continuing my freelance work in my home country. I also have more than 500,000 THB in my bank account.

Has anyone here been in a similar situation and successfully applied for the DTV? I’d really appreciate any tips!

I just looked at the Thailand evisa website (UK )

My intention was to look at what types of documentation are required to be completed.

I was surprised that the 90 day non o retirement visa is no longer an option

Can someone advise further

Hey everyone! im going to Laos to get a tourist visa, and everywhere i've read it says its three days process or something like that, but the website says its 10-15 business days to process the visa, starting jan 1st 2025. Has anyone done a visa in Vientiane recently? any update on how long the process takes?

My son completed 11 months of a 12 month education visa for Thai language. I was on a retirement visa for a year. My visa expired a month before he was due to finish ( I got it through the Canberra embassy and it arrived faster than I thought). So he got a letter of early finalisation apparently required from the language school in CM. We then departed for another country on the day my visa finished and were gone a month. We checked everything face to face with CM immigration about leaving and then coming back on a tourist visa, returning for 3 weeks before heading home to Australia. We arrived back at Suvarnabhumi airport and no problem I was stamped through. Then they stopped my son and I came back with him and he was given a hard time about not finishing his course. He had the letter. He was asked one question in Thai and the officer was saying he hadn't studied. We had just come off a night flight without sleep. Then the officer said he cannot come back on an education visa. There were three officers. They were pretty rude and officious but then did allow him to be stamped in as a tourist. We did all the right things according to CM immigration requirements but Bangkok were upset. They also said we cannot come here to live etc. Never said we wanted to!! I love Thai people in general but is this usual?

Asking for a friend

...really, because I'm American. For a citizen of Chile I understand they currently get 90-day visa exempt stamp upon entry (not the 60 days offered to many other nationalities.) Can this be extended for 30 days one or more times at an immigration office in country? This person has entered Thailand one time this year and stayed less than 30 days, and may enter again next month after being out of the country 2-3 weeks.

As they might want to stay here beyond 4 months, they may need to leave Thailand to get a new stamp. If they go to Cambodia, do you expect that will be easy and will they have to stay overnight in Cambodia? Would it be any different if they did a land crossing or if they traveled by airplane?
