TLDR : Answer Summary
The situation regarding visa duration for Thailand is currently unclear, with speculation about a potential reversion from a 60-day visa exemption to a 30-day exemption. If this change occurs, no exemptions are expected for those who already have a ticket. Many suggest applying for a 60-day tourist visa online to avoid uncertainty, while others note that the details of any changes are still pending. Current discussions emphasize that if one enters Thailand just before any change takes effect, they could still receive the 60 days. Overall, travelers are advised to stay informed but not to worry excessively over potential visa changes.
The Visa EXEMPTION is 60 days, it may or may not revert to 30 days, if you enter the country the day before it changes you will get 60 days, feel free to ask the immigration officer if you can have 60 days because you bought the ticket so long ago, they can probably do with a good laugh at the moment.
I’m not an expert on Thai visa rules but reading comments last three months in this group I thought what you get when you enter Thailand was a tourist Visa Exempt for 60 days not a tourist visa, l might be wrong.
you are sort of correct when you come to Thailand if you are from one of 93 countries, you don’t get any visa. You get to enter Thailand visa exempt. No such thing as a tourist visa exempt.
correct and while there is a 60 day tourist visa, there are many people who write about a 60 day visa on arrival, rather than saying 60 day visa exemptions.
the government is considering changing it back to 30 days because there has been too much abuse of the 60 day visa exempt scheme. It has already been proposed and just waiting on approval.
In Thailand they talk a lot but takes long time for change. Last year they were talking about banning cannibis again and hippies freaked for months saying it will happen.
So chill if it does happen in months you can just apply for the 60 day tourist visa on their website. Easy
yep applying for the evisa extension online still requires you (of course) to go collect the stamp at immigration (CW, not sure it's available for other provinces), but you could save a lot of time doing so. 10min for pickup vs maybe a few hours if you're unlucky.
