The new online arrival card for Thailand will take effect on May 1st. There are uncertainties regarding its processing; specifically, questions arise about whether travelers can check in for flights without completing it and whether it can be filled out after arrival, akin to the previous paper TM6 form. The community is also advised to wait for official publication in the royal gazette before believing any information.
A lot still unclear but I guess there's still time. Will you be able to check in for a flight to Thailand without having completed it, or is it only checked at passport control in Thailand? Can you complete it after arrival, like you could with the paper TM6?
if its anything like singapore or malaysia which has had same system running for a while. There is always travellers who havent done it and have to do there and then. Also go to back of queue while waiting for the confirmation mail. Which in Singapores case is about 5 minutes
I’m not a lawyer, nor an expert in Thai laws, but I’m not sure a listing in the royal gazette would be needed. The requirement for incoming foreigners to write a TM6 (actually previously everyone including Thai nationals) already existed. The TDAC is just a replacement for the previous TM6 arrival/departure card. It’s an electronic version rather than paper.
A few years ago they stopped needing air travellers of all nationalities to need to fill one out and more recently for most border points. However my guess is that law still exists but just wasn’t enforced.
Depending on the actual wording of that law the difference of filing an electronic version (called TDAC) rather than a paper TM6 may not need an amendment.
