I wont' have 800k to keep in my Thai bank account, so to eventually obtain my residents visa, I intend to deposit 65,000b per month instead. I am a UK citizen. I will contact my old employer, Tate & Lyle, and ask them to pay that amount into my Thai bank account.

My question is : does my comapny issue me with some kind of certificate, and if so, who do I contact to get that certified to provide me proof of this income? Can I get it within the UK via the Thai embassy there, or from the embassy in Bangkok. I live in Chiang Mai.

Thanks.

What is the situation if you have a 12 month 'non o' visa (retirement), have left Thailand on exit/re-entry and you are back in the UK and your passport expiry date is during the time back in the UK - are visas and exit/ reentry stamps transferred to a new passport? Are you able go keep old passport with visa and stamps in? I am unsufe of the process, any advice/experiences? ✍

This is the school I used. At the time they knew nothing of the DTV ...just supplied the info required by the Thai embassy in London which turned out to be government approval just because they are good....they may still know nothing...they just charged me there normal fee...no rip off DTV prices. ...but that was then...I don't know what the deal is with them now.

Hi, this is in the everything else category.

I'm getting married here in a couple weeks. I have the notarized affidavit from my embassy and need to get it translated. The first place I checked said they were a "certified translator" and I guess that is a lower level qualification. What level of qualification is required. Also what's the going rate? I was quoted 1500 per page which seems steep. I have only one page (really only 1/2 page) and I'm thinking it would take no more than 30 minutes, so was a little surprised at the price.

Lastly can anyone recommend a translator?

Thanks
