My boyfriend has just received his U.S. passport and will be flying to Bangkok, Thailand in September 2025,but he was convicted of felony which he served time for and is now off parole. My question is will he be allowed entry in to Thailand and are there any further documents he would need to make his entry here in Thailand go smoothly?

Once he has arrived Thailand we are hoping to get married and make his stay here long term.

I am a Thai citizen my boyfriend is ( US citizen)

Please advise any comments and information will be most helpful.

Thanks You

This may be a silly question

When opening a Thai bank on a non o visa in readiness for the 1 year retirement visa can you deposit more than the required 800 K baht ? If so , can I take out money for day to day living expenses but still have the 800 K in the bank and not be penalised by immigration when the time comes for the yearly application extension. Thankyou

Hi everyone,

I just got my DTV and I’m planning to move to Bangkok this September. I had two quick questions as I’m considering staying in Thailand for several years:

1. Is it possible to open a Thai bank account with the DTV? Any advice or recommended banks?

2. Is it true that you can become a Thai tax resident after staying more than 180 days in a calendar year? How does it work exactly in practice?

Thanks a lot for your help!

I'm applying with workcation in hanoi with my own company, I wouldn't like to show all my transactions, is it possible to just send the final balance of every last 3 months? What's been your experience about this?

Hello everyone,

I got my DTV visa in HCM in 7 days.

I still have two questions:

If I want to leave the country, do I need to go to immigration first?

My passport expires in 3 years — do you know what I should do, since my 5-year DTV is linked to my passport?

Thanks for all your advices

For the soft power option

So long as you prove you have 500k bhat, what are the requirements for income proof? Do you need to be making a certain amount?
