Hi everyone. Just want to share my application experience in Vientiane. I went for my appointment this morning and got sent away twice for lack of documents. I hope this post will allow others to be better prepared.

I went to the embassy with the following documents;

1. Application form with 2 photos attached

2. 6 months of bank statement showing more than 500K baht every month

3. Employment certificate stating my position and that my job is entirely remote

4. Official company registration document with government stamp

5. Passport data page & Laos entry stamp

6. Hotel booking confirmation

7. Document showing my residential address (I use my country issued identification card with address stated)

First rejection:

After looking through my documents the officer wants me to show prove of my salary being credited into my bank account. I left the embassy to print the statements which showed the salary being transferred into my account.

Second rejection:

After looking at the statements, the officer wants to know how do I prove that the money credited is my salary and also wants me to provide employment contract. I left the embassy again this time to contact my employer to write a letter stating my salary for the months shown in the bank statement and an employment contract.

My documents was finally accepted and I paid 10K baht, receive a paper with the date for passport collection.

After reading through this group for a month, I thought the employment certificate indicating my work position and stating my work is entirely remote is enough. Turns out I need to provide employment contract. The bank statements conclusion too wasn’t enough, I have to show full statements with salary credited and also a letter from employer stating the salary.

Hopefully all is good and I get my passport back with the visa.

Remember land borders do not close on holidays :)

Also remember if you have a stamp that is expiring on a day the immigration office is closed (weekends or holidays) and you go the very next day they're open you can apply for your extension like normal. You will not be charged for the overstay but you will get a stamp in your passport that says "overstay xxx days fine waived due to closure"

I own a company in China and this is the contract i have to sign every year so i can apply for work permit. I write this contract by myself and sign it and put my company stamp before going to apply for work permit and visa. So it can only be a one year contract that’s the Chinese rules for permit application . I want to apply for the DTV so i am confused on whether the contract should be one year or what. Since its my company the contract can be adjusted based on my needs and use purposes

Can anyone tell me whether if you’ve finished your 60 days as an Aussie in Thailand , whether can you come back in again for another 30 days a week later? TIA

I've done a few border runs in my time just the walk over ones. As I stand there I see the Thai and Malaysian come and go seemly no checks ??? . I'm off to Kuala Lumpur soon for a few days and you know it is my Thai lady friend says I come I come. So the question is do a Thai need a passport to go to Malaysia ?

Hello guys, i have Bangkok bank account for a while, but never used it before. Now i went to fix my online banking, and visited two separate branches to do so. Both of them told me different prices as a comission for money sending. First branch told me 100 baht the second one told me 1150 baht. Can you tell me how much of a fees you pay sending money with revolut and is there any specific way to avoid the SWIFT transfer?!?!

There was some discussion earlier about DTV and 90 day reporting. Although there wasn’t really any doubt.

Immigration officer made sure to remind me while applying residency certificate that : “Don’t forget 90 day report!”

Also, bank account on DTV IS possible in Bangkok with medical certificate.

Got bank account yesterday on the first branch I tried. My thai friend had called another branch (Bangkok Bank) for me that stated:

- Medical certificate confirming hospital treatment over 3 months AND

- Visa longer than 3 months

Resident certificate also possible without 90 day report at Immigration in Bangkok now. 200 Baht, mailed within 7 daya.
