U r not extending the Non-O.

They are called "extension of stay" cuz thats what u r extending... the particular stay you are on.

Lets say your Non-O has 362 days (mutiple entry ONLY):

You could leave the country tomorrow... come back... and it would still be valid. In which case they would give u 90 days as they always have.

If u are in month 13-14-15 (u already did whats described above) then u can go to Immigration w 1900 baht (and all documents) and extend ur particular last stay for 60 days based on family.

If u r on a single 90 day Non-O u could also do it getting 5 months out of it.

Its 2 completely different things.

A- getting a single entry Non-O (90 days) with the objective of extending.

For the extension process u need to show the 400k etc etc. Which u know cuz uve done it.

B- What u get in Savanaket or Ho Chi Minh with no financials asked is a 1 year multiple entry Non-O but u only get 90 days when u get in.

So people do a border bounce to re-activate another 90 days on the same visa. If u do a border bounce the last week u would possibly get 15 months cuz they would give u 90 days towards the last days of the year validity. Then a 60 day extension based on family and thats 17 months.

If u need to stay inside for the whole year that wouldnt work. Plus the inconvenience and expense of having to leave every 90 days.

I wanna believe its intended for poeple who dont live in TH but have the need to come here often to visit family.

Most Immigration offices will charge you for the residency paper.

Funny that no receipt is given... cuz of course... its free (should be).

But go argue and waste time!

Some offices (Samut Prakarn) will even make you purchase 2 residency papers since they specifically write รถยนต์ (car) in one and รถจักรยานยนต์ (motorbike) in the other.

By the time u get to the DMV the nice people there will tell you they couldve easily written both in 1 paper.

Im never in a mood to be hated or delayed so i just pay the guy intead of bitching about how horrible Thailand is (while choosing to live here).

Just a heads up for those looking into renewing/getting a license.

Also: if u have a Work Permit most DMVs will accept that instead of the recidency paper from Immigration.

Not guaranteed... but they did take mine a few times.

If u hold a (valid) license from abroad u can get the license here without driving test but still have to sit for the hour video and check motor skills/vision.

If a female foreigner marries a Thai man, it is understood the man will "take care" of her. We all know "take care" in Thailand means money/provide. The idea behind it is: Men have to "take care" of women. Call it sexist, or whatever.

I also don't see women paying sin-sod to get married, and this is Thai or foreigner alike. So its not something they made up for foreigners, its a general concept applied. [I dont agree w it... just explaining where it might come from]

Regarding the Health Insurance which "other visas" are we talking about? If he/she is working on a NonB the company probably provides health insurance. If not, at least they pay taxes on their salary so they have the ประกันสังคม (prakan-sangkom)

If they are on an Elite, etc etc and they have money... well... they probably have private health insurance.

If they are on a tourist/ED etc etc... they wont be here for long (not with the new rules).

So the only scenario i can see that is risky for the government (risky = using a hospital and not having the means to pay the bill) is someone who is over 50, staying for a long time, and with little income (not even 2k dollars a month). Hence the requirement.

we do NOT get unlimited border runs nor exemptions.

Also Thais cannot visit "south america" for 90 days. They can only visit the 5 countries that hold bilateral agreement (Arg, Chile, Peru, Brazil and Korea)

If a Thai goes to Mexico or Uruguay they need a Visa as its true the other way around

I am ARG and even tho i do not use exemptions i an also admin of a group of argentinean people in TH and they get denied everyday just like any other nationality lately.

Last week a couple with a 2 month BABY was denied coming back from KL through DMK contacted me via pm crying etc... sad

My advice would be stay away from big airports.

Nong Khai seems to be a good choice, always been a friendly border for these type o' things.

Plus they cant deny and "send u back home". Worse case u re enter Laos and fly Vientianne somewhere else... or try next day....

With more than 4 consecutive stamps (more than a year inside no breaks) i WOULD expect to have problems tho i wish u good luck.

1. is Tabien Baan

Or

Hotel regustration

Or license to operate business etc etc... (in case of a hotel/guedthouse etc)

If its a private condo or house then ill be the tabien baan.

2. Is a power of attorney giving permission for someone else to register in his/her behalf.

If the owner agrees to let u use the platform then no need... u r acting as if he were doing it himself. (It does says for owners who do it themselves no need)

3. ID card of owner and authorized person (if any)

ALL DOCUMENTS must be signed with the "samnao tuktong" (สำเนาถูกต้อง)

So u add one.... specify the document name and then ADD another document etc

If all good u should be approved soon. I did it 8pm and had the password by lunch, but it depends on the province (samut prakarn for me).

Good luck!

When u register through the website (not the App) the 3 documents needed are clearly listed (in Thai).

I attach a picture and will translate in the next comment. But u r better off forwarding that to the owner who will need to give u these documents to upload.

Once the account is active u will receive user/id via email (make sure u use your email or ask the owner to then fwd the email to u)

U can then register urself but bear in mind its the owners name so im assuming he/she knows and agrees...

David O'Brien-Gamble the extension is the way to go. I guess the 2 reasons i can think for NOT doing are:

- People who regularly leave for other reasons and dont mind it

- Money in the bank u gotta show plus the money u then "cant touch" during the year etc etc

Can u leave Thailand w 1 passport and enter Laos w another passport: YES

Done it.

BUT it cannot be done over land crossing as the stamps should correlate (on a land crossing its expected that u come from TH, so they do verify stamps)

If u come to BKK and take a flight to Vientianne, no problems. When u arrive in Vientiane u "could" be coming from ur home country.

Thats the reason passport swapping works only through airports.

The next issue is ur marriage certificate.

They WONT give u the NonO w a different last name.

The long term solution would be the extension. If u cannot gather the money u could always get a job (work permit) or transfer money from abroad regularly.

Both will have a monthly cost (taxes for option A and transfer fees for option B). But leaving every 90 days to Laos, KL, etc wont be cheap either so i would def look into an extension scheme.

@Claire ******
waiting for the email after having made the appointment is no big deal.

The whole reset password is a useful tip for people who are running close on dates (appointments running out for the dates they might need) and need to book NOW even if the confirmation pdf takes a day or 2.

Good luck 👍

@Amornrat *********
yes....

BUT: If u dont wanna wait.... u can just hit "forgot password" and the password reset has no delay for gmail accounts.

So u can get going right away as i mentioned on the original post and now Claire confirms.
